Vore Writers: What do you admire most about other writers?
When I first started writing for this site, I thought I was hot shit. 'It's porn,' I thought. 'How complex could it be?' Now, after reading countless stories, talking to other writers and experiencing the breadth of talent that permeates Eka's, I have come to realize that there are a million different ways that a writer can engage their readers. I've read gripping works with fantastic plots that left me craving more. I've read romances filled with such heartbreak that I actually cried. I've read some of the hottest depictions of people eating each other in existence.
I have come to deeply admire the creators that contribute to this site, but I want to focus on writers right now.
For me, the thing that I admire the most about other vore writers is: Imagination. I know it sounds generic, but I can hardly believe my eyes when I read a five paragraph essay describing just the single moment when a pred swallows their prey. The sight, the sound, the feeling. Nobody does it the same. Everyone has a different idea of what it would be like to be eaten and the feelings that flicker through their characters minds. Everybody focuses on different things. It is for that reason that I never get bored with even the sloppiest of smut, because there is always something different to take away from the experience.

Imagination is good ! :3 New stuff is always exciting--new creatures, new sex acts, new stuffing situations.
The quality I admire most is, ability to make it easy to read.
It's not just "getting to the good part fast". It's putting you in any interesting situation, right away, whether it's drama, danger, vore, or whatever. Describing enough, but not too much. In fact, stories where "the good part" is pretty much the whole thing are ideal. Where you are halfway through and have no clue how much more crazy obscene stuff will happen and you feel addicted to keep going--that's what I admire. It's really rare but effective.
that, AND, people who just describe beautiful people, places, and things really well. :3

Re: Vore Writers: What do you admire most about other writer
I usually admire ability. It feels a bit weird because the more I think about it, the more I realize I'm actually referring to both sides of the spectrum. If something is really good I usually end up being impressed and even getting a little jealous, thinking, "I wish I could write like that," even though I'm already a decently proficient writer. It's usually more of a stylistic thing. Some other writers have a certain way with description that makes me feel like I lack something even though it's just a difference in style rather than a true difference in skill.
On the other side, if I see something not super well-written but also not a butchered mess of letters and spaces, I usually find myself admiring what they're trying to do and want to help them out as much as I can. Perhaps these two things aren't necessarily the same but that's how I see it.

The writer I admire most on here is Aces. His stories keep me drawn in. E.A.T.U. Fallout: Guts and Glory. Little Lamia in the Big City. They draw me in and make me interested in what happens next. I can't seem to get that particular aspect of writing down. People seem to read my stuff and then just not really care what happens next, or they send comments asking in a way that makes me slip up and reveal what's going to happen next. Aces stories are like... rubber cement. Sticky and hard to tear away from but escapable at first, but then you get in deeper and it's like more and more is poured on and you can't leave even if you wanted to. Which most people wouldn't. Keep up the good work Aces.
Just a wolf lookin' for some fun. I like all sorts. Just... don't eat me.

Apex, I feel the same way when I see fantastic writing. There is just some tiny touch of quality that elevates it. A hundred small things done just a touch better than I do and the result is stunning.

Re: Vore Writers: What do you admire most about other writer
Imagination is always a good starting point. If you can't envision what it is your writing, it will be difficult for someone else to see what your trying to get across. (I hope that made since.) The biggest one for me is the characters in the story. Most of the time, All I read are simple one dimensional characters that only eat, fuck and sleep. this isn't bad for a one of snuff read, but I don't really care about those characters. This ties into what Indighost said about only having a "good part." Sure we get a great vore scene but I have no connection to the characters. A prey is terrified of being eaten so what? why should I care if they get eaten? Often the story will fail to show why the prey matters to me. Its just meat at this point. Now lets start the story off with our prey getting ready for work. Do they say goodbye to their spouse with a kiss or simple goodbye? With this simple interaction we can see that the character either has a loving relationship or is maybe going through a rough spot. Now I have something to humanize the prey with now there fear is more tangible to me. The scene where the predator corners them now has tension outside of simply being eaten. Its the simple things that make us human the same is true for the characters we write about or draw or RP. What I've learned from other writers on this sight is that the stories I enjoyed the most had characters I actually cared about or were interesting to me.
A personal example would be my first attempt at writing vore in the fallout setting. I managed about 16 chapters which at the time I thought were great. Then I decided to re-read my work from start to finish and was immensely disappointed. I was so focused on getting to good parts (ie the vore) I would skim over large section of the story. For example, instead of showing the journey form point A to point B, I just wrote it off with "and soon they arrived." What I should have done was use that travel time to have some inter character development, or transitioned to another character somewhere else in the world. I brushed off opportunities to actually develop my characters for more smut, and as a result they felt hollow. This caused me to give up on writing for several months, and almost purge my account. Then I looked at my work again and started to re-read other writers to see what I did wrong. I've learned a lot from this self reflection and characters can make or break a good story.
TLDR: There are lots of other things that can make a break a story for me but characters are the biggest factor for me.

Re: Vore Writers: What do you admire most about other writer
Consistency is it for me. I feel like I've written some things that are pretty good, even in comparison with many other writers on here. When writing the really good stuff, it also felt easy. Eventually, I'll reach a point where I start focusing too much on one thing - scenes become too short, the plot doesn't develop naturally, and any attempts to make a scene longer will feel like pure padding rather than just the natural length of that scene. I know what I do wrong, but it's still really hard to do it right, especially in the first go.

I admire the ability of some authors to just keep working. I can get distracted very easily by what-have-you, be it video games or YouTube, along with my story ideas fading out the instant I open up my word processor to start typing. Meanwhile, it seems like other writers are able to just crank out top-notch stories on a regular basis - and in the particular case of Halcyon, even managing to do so while also working on Nyan Adventures until very recently!
Just makes a YouTube-potato like me admire those that have more practice at putting aside distractions and making time to write their lewds.

Me too, Reaverbot!
My wife told me that she was there few years ago. I've never heard of such sport before. She likes grand-national-club a lot. I think she wants me to get there too.

Re: Vore Writers: What do you admire most about other writer
I admire how some writers can make things really powerful in a fashion that takes a lot less words than I tend to use myself. I often get really flowery/detailed, so I'm always really astounded and awed by writers that can put things into a flowing, easy-to-read fashion with much fewer words and still carry the scene/story along strongly with that style and manner of writing.
I also really admired people who can write action scenes. That's easily my biggest struggle. The rapid fire back and forth and just the right amount of action and reaction without the scene getting heavy or carrying on too long through embellishment of actions. Mad props to them. Mad props.
And if we're talking more in general, I admire how a lot of writers are really strong with productivity and keeping themselves sufficiently motivated. And on that same note, writers that can move forward with chapter stories and keep their ideas and plot flowing and going, and are motivated to keep it going. I'm more of a one-shot person, myself, so anyone who can stay on-track with longer stories and see them through have all of my respect.

I think the most stunning aspect of other people's writing is usually the unique situations they come up with. I still very much enjoy stories in which the central plot is just that one character eats another but the ones that really stick with me are the ones featuring the predator and prey in a situation I've never considered before. Particularly ones that leave me wanting to write something in a similar setting but often not able to because everything to say about that scenario has just been said.

Their voice. I think when I write my voice doesn't always have enough character in it and having most of my writing experience being lab reports makes that hard to improve.

It's going to sound rather cheesy and boring, but I really admire people just putting themselves out there creatively.
I struggle with the idea of approval myself and find it's been crippling my writing from time to time. Lord knows how many stories I've scrapped because I didn't think anyone would find them up to par.

I admire how detailed and scene setting some of them are, and I also admire how they achieve a good balance between being detailed and well written, but also not too much that it distracts from the reason you most probably read it, i.e. the vore. What I mean is, they can make the characters come alive, but not too much that you might not want them to be eaten, if that makes sense.
I'd love to be able to achieve both of these things for when I write.

The bold part depends entierly on if the story is fatal or none-fatal.

This thread is amazing. Thanks for all these great insights!
For me, especially as a heavily identified predator , prey design in a story is so interesting. Boring prey becomes really not filling. Interesting prey is delicious and nicely filling.
However, the context around the eating in a story is so important.
Was the prey cruel and evil and getting good revenge by eating them?
Was the prey innocent and sweet and now it's super sad?
I mean you're fucking ENDING A LIFE for your momentary meal pleasure. It's such huge dramatic potential!

I feel this on a spiritual level. The pred always needs some justification for eating a person, even if the content is non-fatal. The prey, however, is usually just an audience stand-in and is left as bland as possible to allow you to insert yourself into the story. I am very guilty of allowing my prey to be a John Doe and I have massive respect for writers that hammer home the dramatic tension inherent in ending a life.

I love when a write emphasizes how cruel and oblivious to human life the pred is. That's why my favorite story is JackNoName's Miss Melanie's Teachings, because the teacher makes up excuses in her head and shrugs off any guilt when she cruelly eats children alive and feels them sobbing inside of her as they wait to digest.
