The above clip doesn't work for me.
In other recent clips, here's a nice clear HD one of a GBH swallowing a largemouth bass. Watch how the throat bulge moves his feathers as it makes its way deeper. I also really like the last little snap shut of his beak @ 0:57.

Oooh, slow mo. I love how the throat bulge pushes out the feathers.
Try the video now. I posted from my phone before and must not have pasted it in correctly.

Re: Herons/pelicans swallowing live prey
Had a look on my computer and found this.
Look at:
3:26, 4:14, and 5:25
At 3:26 they do a slow motion zoom on the bird's mouth as it eats.
Also found this, look at 0:30
And this:
Lastly, look at 1:38
EDIT - clip starts at 4:14, not 4:16.

Here's a quick clip; more good footage of a fish wriggling all the way down a heron's throat.

OK, WHOA! Here's an awesome clip of a hungry GBH swallowing a rabbit alive! Bunny gently kicks throughout the feeding. I wish this had gone on just a bit longer and maybe showed some close-ups of the birds throat with the live bunny in it.

Agreed, that's a ridiculous place to end the video. Nice find though!

Re: Herons/pelicans swallowing live prey
Amazing clear video of a great blue heron taking his time and expertly swallowing not one, not two, but three fish alive. This footage very clearly shows each of the three fish wriggle down his gullet one after the other. Superb HD footage with closeups of the swallows.

Fixed! The previous video was slightly longer, but this shows the full feeding. A seagull swallows a fully grown rabbit! I would love to hear your take on what this might sound like...

The entire neck is the bulge. It's twice as thick after he gets the rabbit down. He sure did bolt it down fast though; gulls are such aggressive feeders.

That's pretty cool...also I see a huge bulge LOL. Looks like a Black Back, my personal favorite.

Another of WildIrishSwan's compilations. We have seen most of these before but the first clip in the group is new and quite good. A young duck fights hard but just can't escape this heron's grasp, and goes down alive.
ETA: video deleted. WIS only leaves most of his vids up for about a week.

Yet another amazing compilation of footage by WildIrishSwan. ETA: different compilation, I'll try to keep editing whenever he deletes and reuploads.
