There is very definitely a vore audience that explicitly enjoys utilizing unusual animal anatomies for vore purposes.

In fact, I don't know anyone who does it without the anatomical correctness if they aren't using a 'standard' species, like in my experience if someone was explicitly putting a female Hyena into a fetish scenario, 99% of the time it's because of this fact which they will pull into relevancy. The outliers are usually just not into it. So for example if you wanted a hyena you'd have the pseudo-penis, and if you wanted a creature with characteristics you perceive as female then you don't.

I think the best way to explain this is with feline fursonas.
