I can partly answer that: it fails to create an egg to add to the player's inventory for some reason

The actual Unbirth move works fine without crashes (Ignore the random ass Geodude kek), so I'm genuinely confused.

Apparently, [005] Restore Consumable Item.rb tried to restore its held item by looking up its index in caughtPartyIndicies. In certain sequences, the caught Pokémon was registered, but its party index returned nil instead of an integer. Attempting to index initialItems[1] with nil caused the game to crash.
The fix? I just simply added [next if idxParty.nil?], so that it won't return nil, safely skips the item restoration step for any caught Pokémon missing a valid stored index.
