Update

Well, since finals are finally over, and after having a few days of rest, I think I better start getting back into the routine of writing again.

First things first, gotta write up that Touhou story, which won the poll quite a while ago. I want to finish that off as soon as possible so that I can dip into the rather burdensome well that is my story backlog (which of right now consists of 20 or so ideas that interest me enough to put to paper and another 10 being merely fragments that may or may not be turned into stories one day).

Case in point of a possible idea that came up recently:

I am not usually one to watch currently airing anime, mostly due to apathy and disinterest to new shows that clearly don't appeal to me. One such show, is Haiyore Nyaruko-san. On its surface, it has all the trappings of a generic comedy show. Boring male main character, bunch of cute girls to ogle, and its comedy based on references only nerds would get ('Oh look, it is the pirate flag from One Piece. Pretty funny right?'). Basically a poor man's Excel Saga for 2012. The catch? All the girls are humanized versions of Lovecraft monsters, the main one being Nyaruko, aka Nyarlahotep the Crawling Chaos.

Unless you are the most literary purist ('He is spinning in his grave I tell you! Spinning!'), the absurd concept alone would garner at least a look see. After watching up now current episode 6, I can tell you it doesn't do anything new. Nyaruko is your typical hyperactive girl that likes to drop anime/video game references all the time while trying to get into the main male's pants, and Mahiro (who's name I barely remember) is you typical straight man in a comedy who rejects her any chance he gets.

So why would Excel Saga with a Lovecraft twist hold my interest past episode 1? Well...

That...is quite a bit of references to pregnancy/impregnation, which certainly is hitting some buttons for me. So despite it not being the best show out there, I will be keeping up with it, for any further developments for research purposes and all.

I like this anime because of how the main male lead STABS the female lead with a fork when she gets too excited. Makes me lol.

Twenty stories? Oh wow, looks like there's gonna be a lot of reading on my end and boy howdy am I looking forward to it~

Oh yeah, I heard about this anime in the past and, as someone who rather likes the work of Lovecraft and the mythos in general, it looked like something I could really get into. But doing research shows me it doesn't really sound all that great. :L

My disappointment aside, I didn't know there were so many drops to pregnancy/impregnation in it. Looks like it's gonna provide a lot of fuel for us preggo-fetish writers :V

If you're out of ideas: pick Yuyuko.
You can't go wrong with Yuyuko.
