Patreon issues.

This is a rant blog with a question at the end so skip to the end if you feel like it.

Anyway...not gonna lie I don't like Patreon. Now don't get me wrong. I realize its AMAZING for artists and probably makes life so much easier for them and allowing them to budget. But I don't like it cause I feel it pulls artists out of the commission pool. I'll admit that is petty but its my reasoning.

Now some people may say...why not just Patreon the artists you were gonna commission? Well the issue there is I don't want to Pateron them then drop them a month or two later.

Which leads to my morality question:

How should I handle this?

I have come up with a few options:

1) I join the Patreon of the artist I want, then when I get the art I want I drop my donations vastly. (I don't like this cause it feels like I am a massive tool.)

2) I don't Patreon at all and just forget about it. (Obviously the easiest option)

3) And this is the one I kinda like. I contact each artist individually and ask them how they would like me to handle it.

I mean of course they would want me to subscribe to them and subscribe at the peak level. But sadly my eyes are bigger than my wallet and I just can't afford that.

Hmm that was shorter than I thought. Anyway here is a forum link to the forum post I made to get more advice.

Yeah but what if the artist I want only does request/commission pictures for their Patreons?
