Good Habits!

Posted by Belloc 8 years ago

I'm posting this here as an accountability thing. A nice reminder of what I'm trying to do.

I spend way too much money on eating out and way too little time on working out. I'm not out of shape, but my wallet and health could be if I don't deal with this now. After all, diabetes and heart disease run in the family. Best not to toy with that nonsense!

So! From this day forward, I'm going to:

a.) Eat no sweets outside of family get-togethers
b.) Eat nothing I don't cook by my own hands (again, outside of family get togethers)
c.) Ride my bike or walk daily and perform at least thirty minutes of yoga in the evenings

Simple and cheap fixes. I make allowance for my occasional family trips because food is just sort of their way of celebrating being together (so fitting :P). Should be easy. But is there anything here you folks should even care about? Well, if I work at saving cash, I can pay off my debt faster and, ultimately, afford more commissions! Yay! If I don't, I'm a slave to capitalism forever and I don't get to support artists. Booo!

Now that I've written it here, I'm committed! After all, if I lied to a vore blog, I would be a monster. A terrible, terrible monster. With slimy teeth and a growling stomach. That would be awful!

I guess I am somewhat thankful I do not have an affinity towards sweets and have an extremely active metabolism.

That being said, I have additional small advice for you if you want to take it. I have been trying to gain some healthy weight as I call it mainly in the form of muscle without losing too much fat. It comes to a shock to many that there is a healthy amount of fat and having it too low is dangerous regardless of how fit you are. So, I have been going to the gym everyday for a year now and drinking two protein shakes a day...

Ok. A new thing I have been doing lately is drinking almost entirely water with very little exceptions. That is when I noticed an ironic change in my body. I have been losing weight. Also, my wallet has been gaining weight. I have been saving much more money than I thought. Goodbye to my addiction to various teas. Especially Arizona Green Tea.

On a side note, I wish I could do your option "b." Damn student loans really cuts into cooking for myself, or at least with non-frozen, pre-made food.

Good point. You definitely want to keep a healthy weight, which isn't simply a "lower" weight. Anorexia is a thing after all. Got to get enough for everything to work.

Yes~ Water is my drink of choice to. I burn through water every day. XD

I was the same once. If it didn't come from a frosty box, I didn't know how to cook it. >_< But I've worked at fixing that and become a decent enough cook. Not great, but good enough. Plus, it's a LOT cheaper for me to cook than to eat out. Just got to cook enough of it. :)

Oh, definitely. You should have seen me when I was younger. I was so bad that my mother thought I had a tapeworm and almost had me sent to the emergency room multiple times.

Yep. My father, who used to body build as a hobby and is now somewhat of a personal trainer of mine, and multiple doctors have told me of my overactive metabolism. All I can say is to learn your basic body type and try to cater to its strengths. I, for instance, have an ectomorph body type. So I cannot do normal strength training. This is fine by me because I have no want to be big, especially after learning of some of my father's detriments from lifting ridiculous weights, but I do want to be well conditioned and functional so I am going to be doing lighter weights for a while and focusing on cardio which I do enjoy. Gaining muscle mass is a plus. I have been told to stop running to help my body stop burning so many calories but I really want to improve my cardio.

Also, you mentioned yoga. That reminds me that I really need to add stretching to my daily exercises as well.

Interesting. You seem to know quite a bit about the subject. More than me for sure! But I'm pretty similar. I've never been a big guy and don't intend to be. My main concern is just what all's going on under the skin. Make sure I'm healthy. Had a scare where I thought I had a chronic ailment for a while that got me thinking, "I won't be 20-whatever forever. Time to shape up!" I try to maintain a nice mix of exercises. Biking or running mixed with body weight exercises. Nothing heavy.

Stretching is VERY important. As much as exercising itself. I just enjoy yoga, but I also make sure to do stretches before and after a work out. Lacking of stretching can be hazardous and leave you in some heavy pain if you aren't careful.

@Chameleonette Thanks! Yeah, got to keep something to shoot for.

Yeah. I have a similar concern hence my switching to water as a drink, never buying fast food for myself, and recent experimenting with smoothies. I love berries!

I read this, i know its late. But its funny. You guus and your beikg healthy -3- i know sooooooo much about being healthy XD living in a diabetic and gluten free household helps with that as you grow up. But...im not. I used to be like gunder, but anothing thing all of you should watch out for is any sort of medication you may end up taking. Mine from highschool screwed up all my metabolism and eating habits.

As in i used to eat like crazy, gain no weight was more active and such, and was hungry all the time almost XD but...after the meds, i stopped being hungry at all except in one or two large bursts, and gained weight off virtually nothing. And it fucked up my cardio, i used to run for...stupid amounts of time. Then i couldnt run for more than a minute , and i never just decreased my activity i just COULDN'T anymore. I started running for fun and after a minute stopped and puked in the bushes. x.x

So yeah, meds. Oh, and, make sure you eat plenty. Multiple meals and snacks in between. My main issue isnt even lack of activity i now have, its the fact that i cant seem to force myself to eat 3 meals a day. You have to watch yourself, if you dont eat often enough, health wise it turns bad as your body starts to fight you out of fear of starving.
