A fantastic comment

A titanic roar fills the sky as a gleaming metal *thing* descends on a pillar of fire, slowing as it approaches the horizon. In the distance, you see it disappear into a forest and the light blink out.

A few minutes later, a colossal tracked vehicle, festooned with colored lights blinking in disturbing patterns, bursts from the forest, knocking down trees to make its way straight up to you. It stops several meters away, issuing steam from various vents. For a moment, it stands inert.

A port slides open and a spindly metal limb snaps forth, stopping but a meter from your face. At its end, you observe a rather primitive seeming monitor displaying text in fuzzy, pastel colors against a black background. Surprisingly, the text is readable. It says:
*** DEBUG MODE ***
* Executing Function Gratitude(Brendan1k, nonfatal, runonce)
Greetings, reader/viewer/user!
This message acknowledges the receipt of one (1) favorite placed by you on the file approximately 0.34 rotational cycles ago. Please accept one (1) "thank you" as remuneration. (Void where prohibited by Galactic Council decree.)
* ENDOFFUNCTION
* Executing Function Departure(nonimmediate, reducedhazard)

The machine's monitor retracts into the port, which slides shut. The treads reverse, throwing dirt and gravel as they roll the machine back several dozen meters. The engines cough into an immense roar once more, and the machine again begins climbing into the sky on a pillar of light. In moments, it dwindles to a spark, and is gone.
