what makes a story catch on?

Posted by anonymous19999 5 years ago

I upped a couple stories lately that havent gotten any comments yet which frankly is bumming me out a little. but it also got me thinking.

the stories ive written have some big differences in views and favs, aside from just which one is older. but its not always the ones i expect that get lots of favs. i dont entirely see a trend and i was wondering if anyone else has any ideas.

like, ones i spent a lot of time on and are long with multiple vore scenes are a tossup. sometimes they do well and sometimes they dont do as well as short single scenes
macro/micro seems to do a lot worse than same size which is too bad because i like both about evenly
fatal vs nonfatal seems to be a tossup too
modern day settings with high school to college characters seems to do better than scifi or fantasy
i dont think ill be doing any long multipart series but when i did the dropoff for later entries was big. actually even with 2parters theres a dropoff

has anyone else seen any trends in what gets more views and favs? anything im doing or not doing you want to see? i spend lots of time thinking about whats hot, would like to know if its working or what yall liked.

I’ve noticed that when I include disposal I get significantly more views in a shorter space of time. I also noticed I got more views when I post in a weekend. Can’t really say how to get more comments though. I ask for comments with every new story but I usually get the same two or three people.

I just didn't feel like commenting to be honest, but your cat girl one was amazing for me in particular. Being a larger man.

Thank you for posting your stories!

Macro/micro is a pretty big change-up compared to same size, which most of your existing (and presumably popular) stories have. Throw in catgirls and other various anime stuff and you're now targeting a different crowd who are likely not following you or the tag too closely (yet). Since people have the capability to blacklist a tag it's likely your most recent stories have fallen into this trap.

my latest two stories have way way way less views but similar number of favorites compared to some of my earlier ones. The most commented one was a shitpost, which I was not surprised by. I wonder if they calculate views differently on the new server or my timing has been off. Idk though.
