Mission Accomplished!

Am I ever in a good mood today! :D

Today marks the completion of "Summer Interns", which is a milestone for me in a couple ways. It was the first vore writing I ever tried, for a start. At 33k+ words, it's the longest thing I've ever written (beating the previous record of 15k). It certainly smashes the longest thing I've ever finished, which was probably only 4k or so. And that I managed to complete the story in time for a Vore Day release is a terrific cherry on top.

I say complete, but there's still much to be done. I didn't start writing with much of a plan, and I'm sure it shows in some areas. So the next step now is to go back and edit, rewrite, polish, etc. until I'm satisfied with the story as a whole seamless piece. For now, though, I think I'll take a step back -- maybe work on some other stories -- and just bask in the warm fuzzies of achievement.

Thank you to PrinnyDood and KavenBach, who I consider my biggest vore influences. Thanks to MasterGryph, who has been, is being, and surely will be a huge help smoothing out my rough patches. Thanks to Eater99, whose "Freaky Plants" series was the original inspiration for "Summer Interns". And thanks to everyone who reads, faves, and follows whatever it is that I do here.

Okay, that's enough of a victory lap. Thanks for bearing with me, and a Happy Vore Day to one and all!

Aw, thanks. Congratulations on finishing a great series.

I have to say, while I'm interested in the revisions, it'd be kind of a shame to lose the current versions. I'm also curious about other plans and directions you'd considered and decided against.

I feel like any revisions would be focused more on adding material than cutting anything. Most of the plot snags (i.e. the big bureaucrats' conclusion) seem to be caused by too much vagueness or not taking due time to establish something.

There was no real plan when I first started this story. I wrote the prologue and the first chapter with the sole motive of making cool vore scenes, and the Corley Institute was just a framing device for these. I kinda thought maybe the story would finish around Chapter 3, which originally had Summer running into a plant that never actually appeared in the final version beyond two throwaway mentions (Nyx's Cloak, based on a sundew plant). But Chapter 3 instead became about Sara and the Windflower, and Summer lived to continue the story.

The next unused idea was having a despondent Summer -- with "the Incident" fresh in her mind -- encounter Nyx's Cloak in Chapter 4 via either a careless accident or purposeful suicide. This too became something else and the goalposts moved again to blowing up the lab.

Another thought was to have Lucas and Summer be the romantic item. They would run still run into a Manticore Thistle while the lab burned down, and oh how sad, Summer's beau would die in her arms, and everyone else would escape and reflect on stuff. But then you gave me the idea for the showdown between Summer and Eden, and somehow the death of love interest that never had much room to get established just didn't seem like enough to drive Summer off the edge. Lucas and Britt made more sense, anyway; they had more time to spend together while Summer dealt with her crushing burden of knowledge.

But as I've said, a lot of the story was unplanned. Many of the decisions came down to "what if x?" or "how can I cause y?" or "how should I use this cool plant I thought of?".

Ha, now I'm kind of worried that my remark about that possibility held Eden's development back.

These conversations have given me some much-needed perspective on writing - as a writer and a reader. Thanks.

Congratulations! Nothing quite like the satisfaction of finishing a long-running project.

I'm very happy to hear I've been an influence. Your writing is absolutely first-rate. I also hadn't realized that Summer Interns was the first vore writing you did. An excellent start indeed!

In any case, enjoy the achievement, and I'll most surely be lookin' forward to what you come up with next.

Fear not — stuff is in the works! Between a few half-finished short stories, the early pre-planning for a new series, and another project that’s something quite different, I’ve got plenty to keep me busy.
