Thoughts on Thumbnails?

I'm reasonably, reasonably sure I should probably come up with actual uniform thumbnails for my stories. Or should I keep doing the generic 'slap whatever I can find on it' thing I've been doing? I've seen people do both, but I'm slightly worried uniform thumbnails could come across as tacky or annoying, especially as the 'title and content within at a glance' thing is usually pretty common (and mine would certainly be less high quality than people who know what they're doing). On the other hand, I doubt that what I've been doing is particularly professional or impressive, either.
I am conflicted! Thus, I throw my questions at you, internet vore fellows. What do you guys think?

What you're doing now is ideal in my opinion. At a glance you can tell the upload is a story and not an image, but it doesn't give away the content so you've gotta click into it by which point you're gonna start reading.

I find that, what you're doing right now is pretty good already. The thumbnails look great and appropriate. Quite tasteful overall if you ask me.
However, you'll gain other things if you were to make unified thumbnail with tags.
First, it's quite practical and helpful to see the major tags without clicking on the story.
Second, you can easily identify writers from their unified thumbnails. Thus, people will recognize your different works immediately directly uppon sight. I think you'd grow more popular faster.
But unless you find a very pretty way to make your thumbnails, you'll lose in elegancy.
So in other words it's style VS practicality.
