reasons for my absence #SOScolombia

Posted by M0re4117 2 years ago

Hello everybody
Thank you for asking about me and worrying about my absence, as well as thanks for your good comments.
Today (10/5/2021) I return to my work as an artist
I do not know if the news reached their respective countries but Colombia is going through a very strong moment (and very, very screwed up) at the moment.
There is a national strike that has already completed 10 days in a row, between those days there were murders, abuse of police force, sexual abuse by police officers, a lot of fear ... etc.
These marches began for a new tax reform that our fucking president wanted to implement, where one of his characteristics is to increase the VAT on public services
Although currently "changes" have been made to that tax reform, there are other problems (other laws and health reforms, for example) the poverty of my country, corruption, "false positives" (innocent people killed in a time of war in Colombia) among other things that would be very extensive to write.

I feel like a 22-year-old student, the one who mainly generates income for my home, the one who has to pay every semester of her university without the help of my parents and sometimes not having enough money to pay all expenses, living in an unfair country for the young people, being a victim of a deprorable crime that has not been done justice (my attacker IS FUCKING FREE EVEN THOUGH THEY TOLD ME HE WAS IN JAIL, I fear for my safety). I took to the streets to protest all this shit that is happening in Colombia, to demand justice and accompany my colleagues.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B9gDDyCjTxg <--- This is a summary of what happened in the protests these days. This is the reality of my country, I live in the capital of Colombia and here things are increasingly dangerous

As a consequence of going out to march (and it was to be expected) on several occasions the police attacked the peaceful protests and I had to be in that situation several times, each time they were more aggressive. Thanks to that and the stagnant in the large groups of the marches, I was left with injured arms and legs (and my eyes burned a lot from the gases thrown by the police)

---
That has already happened a week, you can rest and advance with the subjects of this university semester. Right now I am reviewing each message and working on the pending sketches for the month of April.

For these reasons, the commissions were not worked in the previous month and the responses to the messages were not answered or read properly.

from now on for my health and my stability I will support the marches from my home.

----------------------------------------

Before finishing this blog, I invite you to read this summary in English, more details of what is happening in Colombia:

I love you guys, I'll come back creating art as you like so much <3

I hope you're doing okay now, no one should have to face injury for demanding justice. I hope your injuries are healing well and I hope everything works out for you and for your country. :(

Ahhh I was definitely worried something might have happened. Thats why I havent tried to bother you too much lately.
I just recently learned of this too so I hope all goes well and something good happens. Be safe but make your voice heard! Given the multitude of condemnations of the police/government's actions maybe something will be done!

May the people of Columbia keep fighting, be strong and hold your ground. Though, nobody will blame you for staying safe.

I wish you Columbian people the very best !

I do hope that you have some form of protection available to you incase the worst should happen. If the situation continues to degrade, hopefully you'll think about moving stateside. Dont want your life in critical danger if you can avoid it, but sticking up for your country is also extremely important. Hopefully the people can fight back against the abuse of lethal force, and cause some kind of positive change.
