Update!

Posted by Humbug 2 years ago

Been a bit since I talked about what's going on. You've probably noticed that submissions are a lot fewer and further between than they used to be. Obviously I've still got that hand/wrist injury thing going on, so I'm taking it easier on the work these last several months. Pretty much only getting one YCH animation and the stuff I owe for Gumroad supporters done each month.

BUT I might start doing more soonish. My hands and wrists are a lot better now than they were a couple months ago, and I've got a good routine of stretches, exercises, and temperature treatments going on as recommended by an occupational therapist. It's helped me immensely and I've seen a lot of improvement. Most days, I don't even really feel much pain, just that pressure of "you should lay off before it starts to hurt." So that's a real good sign, and I'm looking forward to when I can actually be back to normal, even if my routines won't exactly go back since I don't want to screw myself up again.

So that brings me to stuff relevant to you all: I've started, however tentatively, getting that cartoon studio together that I mentioned in this journal: https://aryion.com/g4/blog.php?id=58182 . Got a few animators, a few writers, and a couple sound people interested and in a server I've set up. Levels of commitment vary at the moment, and it's still going to be some time before we start producing anything, but we're starting to get some details hammered out, including a little world for our characters to run around in. Cartoons themselves will, of course, be of dubious canon, but a lot of the rules of the main setting will be consistent from cartoon to cartoon. We're also punting around the idea of an "after dark" thing, for the more adult-oriented animators to do as a side-project, but that's going to be even later to release than the first pack of animations. The current plan is to put out a pack, similar to those Pony Vore Packs that went around some years back, or like the serial publications of  swallowtail. Depending on how well those do financially, we'll see where the endeavor goes from there. I really want this to succeed, so I hope there's a lot of buy-in.

In other news, I've started uploading my animations to YouTube, and I'm actually kinda close to meeting the minimum requirements for monetization! It's not gonna be, like, my career by any stretch of the imagination, but it's a neat little perk I hadn't considered before this year. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCPamBHHmUcWAfjh47psYqvA Here's the channel if you aren't subscribed via the other animations I've put up there!

OH! And I might also do a vore animation tutorial at some point. Just need to think up a script and figure out appropriate visuals. So look forward to that.

Glad to see your hand is feeling better, and that the studio is taking off. I'll be watching for those packs intently.

It's great that you're starting to recover! And even better that you're recognizing the signs of when to stop, to prevent additional injury going forward. Looking forward to seeing you get a bit back into the swing of things!

Plus, it's just cool seeing you start execution on these ideas of yours.

Yeah, it feels good to be able to do stuff without having to worry as much about whether it's going to destroy me again suddenly. Really looking forward to being able to be much more productive again without, like, fighting through pain to do it. XD

Fighting through pain is NEVER pleasant..."no pain no gain" be damned. Sometimes it just sucks.

Yeah. And there are definitely times when pain = loss.
