Just so everyone knows, you can always change back; the setting is built-in to any modern mobile browser to go back to desktop if you want. Don't worry about this change, it is perfectly reversible for anyone. Everyone can opt-out.
Just use the toggles at the side panel in mobile mode. And to change back, use the "Switch to Mobile view" button on the top of the desktop site.

Your browser settings are permanent for that specific site unless you reset them. Use that setting instead.

That varies from browser to browser, some only change for the current tab, it would be greatly appreciated if you could add an option to disable the new layout to the site itself, so that none of us have to switch browsers to use the layout that's simultaneously more compact, more styled, and less cluttered by default.

I have no idea. It should be the first button you find on your browser. Or if you are using safari it is the page button beside the web address, they buried the three dots button a bit deeper.

Changing back to the desktop view in a mobile browser tends to be a bigger hassle than it should be IMO. You're relying on the "request desktop site" feature of mobile browsers but its behavior tends to be different from browser to browser. For example, I use Brave on iOS and it unfortunately doesn't have the option to always request the desktop version of specific domains. Adding some kind of option that's built into the site and saved per-user would solve such inconsistencies.

Both are inconsistent. If I reply on the site to determine, then it will never know which one to start with until the user is logged in. It is usually better for the browser to handle it cause it is a built-in function to every mobile browser.
And yes, Brave does have this option. I just checked it out. It does request the desktop site by default. That particular browser want you to *long press* the reload button to show option for that specific site.

That's only for that specific tab though, upon closing and opening Eka's in a new tab it resets back to the mobile layout. It's not the *biggest* hassle but yeah.

I really enjoy the new look! It's got some great features. I appreciate being able to see the art icons now!
Critiques:
It's too easy to accidently swipe so notifications away. I've been playing with it and the margin is really small. Its about a centimeter or so to trigger it while it should be from press to nearly the edge of the phone.
Plus there's no way to reverse that action. It should hold until I release, or else I drag it back to the right and cancel.
Minor things: I feel like there is more empty space around the UI element's borders than is needed. Because we're talk about limited screen size, space economics matters a lot. There's obvious a minimum size a button should be for finger interaction, but for example the space around image thumbnails isnt needed IMO.
Names and titles are getting cut off. Usernames and post titles specifically are very long and should be accounted for.

Additional note: I liked seeing my notification count in the top bar. That seems harder to get at now. Particularly in the messages tab that's useful. Right now the top header just tells me it's my messages.

To change the theme you can press the “aA” on the bottom left corner by the address bar, or topmost depending on where your phone’s address bar is. Press “aA” > “Request Desktop Website”. Hope that helps! :)

This is pretty specific to a writer like myself, but I noticed the mobile viewer for literature messes up punctuation and converts it to what I assume is the code version, like changing a period to something like æ€u or something.
Otherwise, I think it's possible to get used to the new layout, but that's just sort of irksome to me in particular.

That is not a mobile issue; that is the conversion problem. your writing already looks like this on a desktop browser. here, open this on desktop.

RTF doesn't support those fancy quotation marks or punctuations in every encoding, and therefore, it won't convert properly. It is a complicated problem, but not due to mobile.

This looks like it could be very useful on a phone,
On tablet, though, the mobile layout feels bad, too much wasted space and too much hidden behind multiple clicks. Like if you're looking at a submission you normally can go straight to that gallery's last updates, favourites, etc. With tne mobile layout you need to click the user name at the too and then unfold what you need.
Which on tablet seems lots of extra clicks. And then lists are horizontal leading to scrolling and worse overview of submissions. Ideally the list of submissions in a gallery would try and fill out the screen width, instead if being strictly vertical. So I think I'll stay on the desktop version when using my tablet.
Also as the site mostly has worked on tablet without issues. You can't see stuff like exact upload time as toh can't hover over the time stamp and there's a few other things, but mostly the desktop version has served well in tablet,
So many thanks for including an easy switch on the site for whether to use the mobile or desktop version. I know browsers has a desktop version switch too, and I actually flipped that before reading here that you'd made a switch in the site too, but the browser switch can reset itself at times. Whereas rhe site specific one I presume is stored in a persistent cookie,
But does look useful for phones, as mentioned,
And in any case, good to see the site still being actively worked on and issues attempted fixed.

Just seemed like having it start at desktop the first time you visit after the change, or if you aren't logged in, would be better for tablet given the tablet interface isn't made yet and tablets have wide screens.

I'm liking that it's easier to dismiss notifications on mobile which makes managing them easier. The native dark mode is also pretty nice. It would be nice if the notifications for favoriting or dismissing is in the background more so you can continue navigating the site instead of waiting for the notification to disappear. I'm looking forward to seeing how this develops.

This was a bit of a surprise this morning!
I tested a few gallery pages with it, and it looked alright. So I will probably stick with it and get used to it.
I can see a few issues though (Firefox on Android):
* The comments on this blog here all have a very large gap at the start of the first line. With the narrower screen and larger text for mobile, it looks unusual.
* When not logged in, the "Log in to read messages" button and the "Gallery" dropdown overlap a bit.
* Switching to Dark Mode replaces the comment backgrounds with a dark colour, but the text switches from black to black-with-white-highlights, which is very hard to read on the darker bg!

So for my brief use of the mobile beta was interesting, and I can certainly appreciate what was intended for the new changes. Some that I definitely like a lot, like the ease of being able to go through the pictures and media of those I am watching and being able to remove it so I can declutter. The organization was very nice going through the messages and being able to sort through each area, and the numbering for each section was great.
Though there are a number of things that I feel are a little clunky and not the most user friendly. When searching, the menu isnt compact and you have to scroll to enter information or to hit search.
When it comes to viewing pictures the fact you have to click on view full image instead of the image itself to resize. Also, when I tried to look at a written work, I was unable to view it as I was made to only see left half of the written work and unable to see the rest, unless I switched off my portrait mode. And when it comes to seeing the previews of the media that those I am following, I think the icons are a little smaller compared to the desktop size.
It's a great first start on the beta and I am interested in seeing where this goes.

I personally like the Mobile layout - Though I'm mostly on a Desktop PC anyway.
I think it helps to browse Tags for example more easily, though I have one critique:
- The Front page has a small usability issue
When you click on for example "Latest Drawings", you get a list which looks good, but the Link to "See all latest Drawings" is this little plus at the top.
My Problem with this is that most people will probably not guess that the Plus (Usually used in UIs to add something) is the Link to "All latest Drawings".
My suggested solution:
Maybe change it to a different symbol and maybe place a second link to see "all latest drawings" too the end of the list.
For me the rest of pages look good on a Phone! Great work!

Nice work! People will always complain about change but I think it is a step in the right direction.
I really like how viewing an image full-size just opens the image itself in my browser, which allows for much more reliable zooming and ensures the whole image is visible.
Not a big fan of the column post layout. Hope there will be an option for a grid layout as well. Personally I would love a layout similar to e621, where most of the screen is dedicated to post thumbnails.
Also I wish the tag autocomplete dropdown had bigger touch targets, I very often tap the wrong option.

I like the general idea, but the implementation with the depictions of posts in a lost instead of a grid makes it much more tedious to skim through the recent updates from many artists.
The switch in mobile browser, at least in firefox, requires manual activation in every tab. It also tends to switch back to default mobile view if you switch to another app and don't use it for a while.
I appreciate the effort which went into creating it, but I would like there to be a switch in the profile settings of the website itself, allowing to turn mobile mode off reliably.

I like the Mobile Version now that I've gotten more used to it, but I do have a bug to report.
When I go to read a posted story, it gives me the "View Content" or "Download" buttons, which makes sense, but when I go to "Ciew Content," for some reason it only gives me the left half of the page.bI've tested with other people's stories and mine to see if it was a formating issue, same result.

Seeing a lot of people here not happy with the new mobile UI, so I thought I'd give it some love. <3
Overall, I really like what you've done. I used to exclusively visit on mobile, so I'm really happy to see this getting a serious overhaul.
I was kind of hoping that word docs and PDFs would magically become as easy to read on mobile as plain text stories, but I totally get why those aren't going to be solved without a whole lot more work, if they can truly be fixed at all.

Unfortunately I found it quite jarring in a negative way. I peeve I have with alot of mobile sites is hiding things under menus that are much easier to find in desktop. Also everything feels way too big and overwhelming, gave me a headache. Thank you for keeping the option to switch back to desktop mode.
Also for the small time that I did use the new mobile version, it seemed to struggle alot more with loading preview images. Alot of them failed to load on the new mobile site, but work fine on desktop. Not sure if that's just me tho.

Wow the new mobile site looks great! Definitely a step in the right direction. The only major downside for me is that I can't see my notifications in the header any more. (And even in the sidebar popup the notification text is truncated so I can't see the counts) Is there any chance you could add the message counts to the floating header, maybe as a small bar at the very top above the existing header? Maybe with an X button on the right so people could dismiss it if needed.
(Also on a side note it would be AWESOME if you could split the notification link into its separate notification types and add targets so if I click xxxC for example it takes me straight to my comments without having to scroll down)

Two problems.
1. The “New Submissions” page takes FOREVER to load on the mobile version. Desktop is instant.
2. The setting keeps reverting back to mobile even though I keep turning it off.
The default on iPads should be the desktop view anyway. They’re designed for desktop layouts. Forcing mobile view on an iPad is a bad design for any website.

It shouldn't force. Once you set it it should stays that way. Though if you disallow cookie it will not track your setting.

It resets to mobile view about once a day. Cookies etc. are on and it remembers my login just fine.

Do you mean the front page? Because the front page has always been just mobile on mobile devices. It isn't optional. This change is only for the gallery.

Why were some things removed? For example, like the "hints" when entering a tag (I'm not entirely sure what that feature is called) or profile avatars when viewing a post?
Also, could you please add a content display setting like on Reddit (they have a choice between Compact and Card*
)? For instance, you could keep the current content display (with one preview per entry) or add an option to display search results like on Rule 34 (with three previews per row)—though I understand there might be an issue with the titles next to the previews (you could simply remove them).
Other than that, it's pretty decent overall.

What you are talking about here is usually called "autocomplete," and they are not removed. They do work in mobile mode just like on a desktop. They only work for tags. Always been like this.

As stated, we are not accepting suggestions at this time. We already have a ton to add, yet. When we accept suggestions, we will let everyone know. Though display mode is one of those fairly obvious thing that we probably will add as soon as we have time or find a good way to do such a thing.

Well, when I was writing the comment, I probably had some bug that made tag autocomplete stop working for some reason, so I thought this feature just wasn’t implemented in the mobile interface

Hello, while using dark mode the text is weirdly blurred/duplicated and makes it pretty difficult to read.
To me it looks like there is a second letter below the "true" oke, like one pixel below or something.
Also while trying to report that bug, I noticed that the font is completely borked, it's like the shading/antialiasing Is inverted
