Soooo...it's been a while since I last updated, yes?
Of course it has. I suck butt at keeping these sorts of things updated.
In anycase, if any of you have frequented the chat about a couple weeks ago, you probably would have noticed me spouting off some crap about me being away from home and illustrating for a book and blah blah blah. Yeah, that much is actually true. It was all a rather sudden decision though on my aunt's behalf so I really had no time to really prepare before the deadline. The story goes that her friend needed someone to illustrate a book she was going to get published and it just so happened that my aunt was so eager to get my 'talents' as an artist noticed by recommending me and eventually dragging me up there to Norfolk where I would get down to business. While the gesture did essentially net me a job that actually utilized my talents in drawing, what irked me is that they decided to pull me along a little late AND I wasn't really able to give them a sample of my work to let them see what I usually draw and my skill level (the latter didn't seem to be an issue as they liked anything I drew for, some reason).
The book itself was a rather simple one, really, it's premise combining the letters of the alphabet with different ways to motivate teachers in the workplace. They wanted me to draw a total of 28 pictures before Friday...which gave me about 2 or 3 days given how I left that Tuesday and didn't start work until that very night once I got back to m'aunt's house. The thing is though, it takes me sometime to actually finish a serious picture, a week is the usual time I take to finish a well thought out pic and I'm used to working at that slow and steady pace. Me having to shell out 28 pics in such a short time was...stressful and I often times found myself not sleeping to get te job done.
I suppose it's something I have to get used to if I want a job in this field. I'm used to working on my own time...not someone elses. But with time I can adjust, I suppose.
I got paid at least, 200 bucks, matter of fact. So it's not all bad.
In anycase, I'm back now. Back to my old PDP styled pace and my old PDP style drawing/writing. Speaking of which, I've been hit with a sudden surge of ideas that all pretain to writing up some much needed content for the Books of Vore in my gallery. I want to try and get them up as soon as I can, but...given my slow pace, it all won't come as quickly to me as I want. So yes, this is pretty much the perfect time for me to shell out "that on story" that's been in the works for 3 whole years. So, to the guy who's been diligently reminding me of said story. It's finally getting underway and is going to be posted for the reading pleasure of all.
