I've posted over in the Ultimate Blackjack topic looking for suggestions for a new feature! As discussed there, I had originally built 3 cheats into the game:
"Ace in the Hole": Converts a card into an Ace.
"Hint": Displays the statistical best hand for 20 turns.
"Peek": Causes dealer's hand to become visible.

These weren't available (and weren't going to be until more dealers were done). However. A decent number of players appear to have a shaky appreciation for maths, and this has led to some interest in having various cheats available. I started off by ruining the Hint mode cheat. Since it's more of a "training" feature than a real cheat, I made it so that it could be turned on...

One individual over there seems to have a dim view of how heavily I've stacked the game to favor the dealer, so I might as well state it clearly here: I actually didn't! Some folks...don't know how gambling works. But, as Las Vegas can attest to, an awful lot of folks think that they see patterns or inner workings to things that are really just random occurrences. This game is genuinely fair! Actually, it's much fairer than fair--I should blog about that at some point...

Yea, I'm in the New England area.
Not much in the way of game-making updates today, I'm afraid! I've spent most of my time over the past week or so shoveling snow and playing Star Wars:The Old Republic. Silly, right? The more time I have, the less productive I am. With 3 days off from wor in the last 2 weeks due to state-of-emergency travel bans, I've missed that usual feeling of urgency I get from working on work all day and then coming home to code.

How things stand:

Getting a lot done--2 yrs of prep work have definitely made for a solid foundation, and things are all falling into place fast. I aimed to get a placeholder image in for the end-game cutscene framework today, but I ended up getting the entire "player wins" scene done. Going well!!!

I'm thinking of crowd-sourcing some dialogue for this one game, instead of writing it all myself. (Dialogue for others is written). What do you think? Would you be interested? Here's what I propose:

Yea, so, cracked wisdom tooth unexpected. Ow. Almost better. Delay of a week occured, though. PLUS! Stupid #$#%@(#! publisher of a book I'm illustrating doesn't know a d*mn thing about printing and suddenly I've got to rush-job preflight some images I finished and turned in back in September because the publisher got all messed up with the eps files and finally concluded that they "need the 2-color images in jpg format because I think that's all we can work with." So now their stupidity is my prob
