Finally, my own website! Posted 15 years ago
It's a WordPress site, and the subdomain shows it (for now), but I'm going to invest in my own domain name before too long, so it can be a bit more professional.

Anyhow, it's called With Love Comes Obsession, and it's now my "official" portfolio site. Writing, photography, and with extras like character artwork I've collected over the years. I'd really recommend reading the About page and looking at some of the warnings and disclaimers there.
What is this I don't even... Posted 15 years ago
Oh hey Corbin. Yeah, I know you're an ass. I kind of designed your character that way. But stop being such a dick to people who are both able to and would have no problem in killing you. You're making it hard for me to portray you as a character that readers can empathize with.
Long time no see! Posted 15 years ago
Heh. I keep popping out without any real warning, I guess. I got a little bit of a head start on NaNoWriMo, which doesn't particularly bother me seeing as I've no intention of "officially" participating, and may not even reach 50,000 words.

What's NaNoWriMo got to do with anything? M/M vampire/human romance. And we all know how much I love details with my vampirism. I started last night and got about 1000 words written, and no real sign of getting much of anywhere besides meeting the actual vampire XD This... is a good sign. Pacing, pacing, pacing! I'm crap at drawing out my stories to any reasonable length. It helps that I'm doing this in first-person, because it's stupidly comfortable and easier for me to draw things out as well as stay focused.
In which I prove to be more forgiving than I ought Posted 16 years ago
You may notice that my previous journal has been gotten rid of. I would like to put that whole thing behind me, and leave people with a somewhat happier conclusion, where Carrot and I worked out why things had escalated so far.

(12:46:15 AM) Mirukani: I am sorry for threatening legal action. I am willing to let the entire argument drop if you are. I would also prefer to keep the conversation short and civil.
(12:46:46 AM) Mirukani: I overreacted. I admit it.
(12:53:25 AM) BobbaCarrot: No, you're not. You're apologising because you don't want me to show almost a thousand other people that you threw legal threats at someone because they told you it was a very bad idea, professionally, to name a character with an incredibly rare name used in a massively...

Wait, whut? Migraines can DO that? Posted 16 years ago
So, uhhhh... Apparently, last night, I suffered from a fairly rare type of migraine variation that mimics the symptoms of a stroke. The left side of my face went almost totally numb, my left arm decided to feel disconnected at the shoulder down to the wrist (funnily enough, my fingers could move okay, although I apparently didn't have as good a grip), and my left leg was dragging pretty badly.

I went to the hospital, they did a bunch of stroke tests on me. Aside from partial paralysis, I passed all of them with flying colors. They gave me an injection and about ten minutes later, I could start moving my arm and leg again. Today at work (YES I WENT TO WORK!), I had a few issues with my leg still wanting to drag a little bit and my arm still being kind of weak, but I was...

Fun stuff. NOT. Posted 16 years ago
My CT scan results came back perfectly clean, aside from a tiny sinus infection. So, no tumor, no imminent risk of stroke, no meningitis... nothing.

Rather than making me feel better, I actually feel worse. It means that the doctors can't find anything physically wrong with me, but I'm still having pain that's interfering with my daily life. This same pain is making me depressed - as badly as I was when living in an abusive household. All day, I've been breaking down into tears. I'm tired of being sick. I'm tired of being in pain. I'm getting close to finding that mindset where if I can't just be normal, I'd rather not be at all.

Don't want to sound emo or like a killjoy, I'm just stating what's been on my mind lately. Obviously, not good things. I've tried...

In addition to my headaches, which have now gone on for EIGHTEEN STRAIGHT DAYS, I'm dealing with a completely nonexistant sex drive (and the last time I tried having sex with my boyfriend, it was seriously physically painful for me), depression, likely some pneumonia, aaaaaaannnnnd some numbness on the right half of my face.

I'm going to the doctor today to talk to him about all this crap.

My job is firing me. Not until my FMLA is expired, but the ultimatum was issued today. My boss seems to think that my migraines are too 'convenient' in their timing and that I'm making the entire thing up. In short, I'm an 'unreliable worker.' My hours are getting drastically cut, one way or another due to a full-time employee being hired in, and I was given a choice today ("Either you want to work here or you don't"), and the ultimatum ("FMLA doesn't last forever, and once it's over, you're out of here").

I... I don't know what to do. I barely managed to keep from breaking down entirely while on the job, and it only really hit after being home for a few hours and taking a nap. I cried so hard I nearly made myself sick. I'm suffering from migraines multiple...

Fuck You, Migraines. AKA: Why I Hate My Body Posted 16 years ago
So, despite having learned all the causes of my migraines and receiving treatment for them, I continue to have them at an annoyingly frequent and somewhat financially debilitating rate of about once a week. It doesn't help that one of my migraine triggers is the freaking WEATHER, which is entirely beyond any human control.

Now. As for treatment of the migraines... blergh. Let's not get started. The only fecking thing that works is codeine, which has its own range of complications, aside from the fact that it's addictive and I already have to watch my liver function because of other medications I'm on. Let's not forget the fact that I quickly grow tolerant of most painkillers, this one included.

I've tried Imitrex, which is probably one of the most well-known...

Employers, reprise. Posted 16 years ago
A little bit of an update on my last blog: My hours are going to get cut, but not quite so drastically that I can't pay my bills. I can live with this. In the meantime, I'm going to do some serious research into what the company can and cannot do where my FMLA is concerned.

Also, one of my managers apologized to me for being such a dick about the whole deal. That actually made my day a whole lot brighter.
