Boom! The dark clouds engulf the sky as they hide the sun. Crash! The violet lightning dances around the clouds. I look at myself, still in wonder and amazement. I punch myself hard in the gut with one paw, and yank my tails as hard as I can. As expected, that same familiar pain. This body is real. I used to be human, but thanks to forces probably within my control, not anymore. But in the end, would I really want to remain human? I wasn't the fastest, or the strongest person in town. I was in fact the very opposite. The only thing I had going for me was my intelligence. I was the stereotypical nerd with glasses, and the object of everyones' hostility. Looking up at the sky as the thunder rumbled in the early morning, I actually felt at ease. The clouds harmonized with my own thoughts and darkened heart. I still remember the events that led to my transformation. One dismal Friday I was walking home from school. As usual the local bullies ambushed me, and started to attack me. I tried had to keep true to my mother's words. "One day the meek shall inherit the Earth. In not retaliating, you show your strength." I was doing a good job at it, until one of them pulled out a knife out of their pocket. "You're no fun anymore," the bully grunted as he lumbered towards me. That was when everything changed. I don't know why or how, but as the adrenaline rush went through me, I changed; at least in mind. The first thing I looked at was the thug's feet, heavy with the man's upper body strength. I don't know how or why, but a vivid image of way to get myself out of the situation flashed before me. Acting upon the impulse, I came in low quickly. As I slid across the concrete street I was able to knock the bully to his feet as he dropped the knife. I then grabbed the knife while he was stunned, and held it to his neck. "What are you gonna do with that?!" he stammered nervously looking into my eyes. I didn't know it at the time, but they had changed into those of a wild animal. I didn't respond with words, but simply dug the knife into his neck as his last breath came out in a sharp gasp. Looking back up I could see the other bullies that accompanied him staring at me. "I'll tell you this only once," I growled sliding the knife out of the now dead teenager's neck. "Things are going to change around here. From now on, if anyone messes me, I'll kill them!" I roared in a voice not my own. I could only watch with a satisfied grin as they ran in total fear. Whatever had overcome me then vanished as I looked around me, confused. I looked down seeing the dead body at my feet, the dagger in my hand. I had killed him! So many words should have come out of my mouth at that time, but what did was, "Serves him right." "Yes it did," a feminine voice replied to my outburst from the shadows. I had almost jumped out of my pants in surprise. Someone had been watching me commit a murder. Before I could respond the woman whispered, "Don't worry, I'm not going to turn you in. In fact I'm here to commend you on a job well done." The woman revealed herself from the alleyway she had been hiding in at that point. I couldn't see her face, but she wore a black robe, that flowed down to the ground. "Who are you?" I had asked worried, but curious. The woman chuckled softly before she came closer. "Just someone who's found something she likes, she replied, stopping in front of me. "You're the local punching bag, yes?" she asked me folding her arms. That comment stung as I clenched my fists in irritation. "Not a nice way to put it, but yes I am," I replied looking up at her. "Look, who are you anyway, I mean like your name?" I then asked tensing up. She just seemed to laugh as she put her hands on my shoulders. Her grip was gentle yet firm as if she was trying to keep me in place. "Just call me 'your salvation,'" she replied before the ground under my feet collapsed into a black pit. I screamed at the top of my lungs, as the darkness swallowed me up, no longer able to see the woman or the city. After what seemed hours I finally reached solid ground. But I still couldn't see anything around me. "Ah, so nice of you to drop in," the familiar voice rang out to me. The shadows seemed to peel away as I saw I was on a sacrificial altar of some sort. The woman loomed over my body grinning evilly. "Where are we? Where am I?" I asked, starting to panic. To my surprise the woman hadn't restrained me as I sat up under her watchful eyes. "You're in my cradle of life," she replied simply as she pulled back her hood. She wasn't human at all, at least in appearance. I saw a vixen's eyes yellow and shining. Her fur was black as the evening sky. One of her eyes had a scar on it, the fur around the wound a crimson red. The anthropomorphic femme fatale grinned noticing me eyeing her closely. "You like what you see?" She asked with a sly smirk on her face. I nodded blankly, still amazed, yet terrified. They say that the eyes are windows to one's soul. When I looked into her eyes I saw none. It was like she had no soul whatsoever. "What if I said you could become this?" She asked spreading her arms wide expressing her form. "Now stop right there!" I responded standing up. "I've no intentions of being whatever you are," I stated firmly as the vixen sighed. "Oh well that's too bad," she said, turning away from me. "If you did become a vulpine you'd be able to accomplish so much more," she stated deliberately walking away slowly. "What are you talking about?" I asked as curiosity took hold of me. "Didn't it feel good, knowing that you had out witted that bully? That you had killed him, before the vice versa could occur?" she asked me looking out of the corner of her eye at me. "You have great potential, more than most humans. But it's being restrained by that pathetic body of yours," she stated pointing a paw at me. "I can change you, make you more." she said grinning as she put emphasis on more. "Give in to me, open your heart to me and let me in. That's all you have to do." she continued on facing me again. At that point a few mental screws had been knocked loose. With my eyes closed, I looked into my own heart trying to reflect on what she had said. I could become 'more'. Apparently that outburst was just a sample of what she was offering. The bullies that remained were afraid of me, what I could do. Before they would take every chance to stress that I was weak and helpless. In that instant using the vixen's power the tables were turned. It was their turn to run while I chased them down. That feeling of dominance, of power, was delicious. The more I reflected on it, the more I wanted to feel it again. Yet deep down I knew I'd never be able to do it again. I didn't have it within me to take a life with a clear conscience. I'd be pushed around again, forced to take the beatings. I knew now that I had a taste of it, I couldn't go back. I refused to go back to that state of weakness. I wanted revenge on them all. The vixen grinned evilly as my heart opened up to temptation and her power. The next thing I knew I was in darkness again, but it was different this time. I could feel the darkness engulfing my body. Before I could so much as scream the darkness had swallowed me whole and alive. My whole body burned as I writhed in agony. My bones cracked and snapped, as I began to change. I lost track of time in the shadows, as the vixen shaped me how she saw fit. That soon led to where I am now, on the outskirts of town. I soon learned that months had passed since I met that vixen. I was not even a vulpine, but a kyuubi. An anthropomorphic nine tailed fox. My fur shined silver along most of my body except in a few places. My paws had black fur, and on my belly and the tip of my tails, my fur was snow white. I wonder if that vixen is still watching over me. Should I even care if she is? No, no I should not. What matters now is that she had fulfilled my inner most desire. Yanking my tails one more time I know this is no dream. This power is no dream. I have been cursed with darkness, and lost my humanity. I can still remember my own vow I made to myself. "With no curse, there is no god. With a curse, there will be horror. With horror, there will be prayers for salvation. And with those prayers of salvation a god will emerge. I will become that god, and with these paws, answer their prayers. The people of this earth will no longer know pain, when I destroy them!
