"Rolf's great fortune" in one paragraph, then "For Rolf's part he was baffled" the next.
Lmao the grass is always greener on the other side. Jason probably wouldn't want to spend his entire life living with a dragon and her "cave".
Afriera did make a good point about Rolf asking for something from who will soon become their... eccentric tourists, but I'm guessing he also wants to have a life other than just being her caretaker in case it turns out that he can't bring himself to leave her alone and go back home.
Probably wouldn't be a good idea, anyway? Those people who stormed the noble's house after he passed might just vent all their anger at him in Afriera's absence.
I'm guessing Rolf and Afriera have overstayed their welcome in Drake's head, so he'll leave us with room for a sequel series if and when they live rent-free in his thoughts once again. lol

It's tricky to move on from being a dragon's caretaker when the dragon disagrees so strongly to the idea. But he will try

"Is she capable of disgorging?" Let me stop you right there, Jason, because I think I know where you're going with that.
Only one more chapter...and my still having no idea how it's going to wrap up.

I certainly wouldn't have any issues with that! They're an interesting pair.
