I know that in real DbD lore, the survivors ultimately come back no matter how many times they get killed, but I'm excluding that element of canon from this story. If you really can’t stand the idea of actual death in the fog, I suppose I cannot stop you from interpreting the killer’s perma-implying statements as trolling, and the survivors’ belief in permadeath as an artifact of them not having been killed/reformed yet, but understand that it's not the dynamic this story was designed around.
