Or maybe "Otter IN otter" is more accurate. 89~

The big swamp otters I draw from time to time are fiercely territorial, particularly the males. While villages of them exist, including human/furry slaves and half-breed results of otter/humanoid matings, when you get away from the otter towns things are different. A big male otter who runs into a smaller male may decide the smaller male is competition for resources such as food and females. The smaller otter is well advised to run, because otherwise his perfectly streamlined shape will make it easy for his larger relative to gulp him down.

Male/female, female/female, and even female/male predation of this sort happens too, just not as often.

First of several drawings I did at Califur this year.

Otter IN otter, and as odd as this might sound, I love the background. Not so fond of the "swampgrass" in the near ground though >_>

And still loving your narrative like synopses. This one "barks" of a wider world developed by you, which is always a bonus for the reader/viewers <3

It's always an inner debate for me as to what do with backgrounds/foregrounds. I could spend hours on them, but a lot of people focus like a laser on the action. That's why a lot of my drawings are on plain white backgrounds. 83

As the best teachers tend to tell their students: do what you are most comfortable with... not just what others like the most about you.

Those narrative descriptions are the best thing artists can add to a picture. They count for a lot.

Hehe, very nice.

Are those tribal tats on the smaller otter? Because at first it looked to me like his tail was backwards.

Very nice beyond that.

More like painted-on decorations. It's hard to tattoo fur. 83

I like how the grass is so much sharper than the trees. It gives this otter feast a comfy-cozy feel.

RL backgrounds sometimes look nice but are jarringly different than the foregrounds. Still, they save a lot of time. I usually blur them so they look farther away, as I did here.

Well it's a good effect and it seems to save you time, so carry on as you were. : )

Have you done any drawings of the half-breed results of otter/humanoid matings you mentioned? That would be cool to see!

Strega

They have so far only appeared in the very first 'otters' drawing, from waaaay back in the early days. And then you have to look for them, as they are easily mistaken for less humanoid otters.

Ah, any plans to draw some more?

Strega

Posted by Strega 13 years ago Report

Well, when you think about it, the humanoid otters I sometimes draw (like Jamie) could pass for otter-humanoid hybrids.

Psyman

O.K. maybe I was wondering if you were going to draw any more pictures of "making" those otter/humanoid hybrids? That sounds like fun!

I've drawn quite a few nonanthro otter-on-humanoid or human femme pics. You just need to look around. 83

Strega awesome drawings as always, big fan of your work. Other then what you have posted in your written section, is there any more information regarding your worlds and creatures you have created?

Any other material is mostly in my head.
