Camp Iwanaeatya
A Furside Tale by Misterebony
Willy smiled as the day dawned in his cabin. It was the fourth day since he arrived at camp Iwanaeatya, and that meant the event today was his favorite: CAPTURE THE FLAG!
He looked at his bunkmates, all of whom he considered his friends. On the bunk beds besides his was a pair of humes like him. But unlike Willy, who had brown hair, a little baby fat, blue eyes, and freckles, Toby and Abe were both blonde haired and athletic, the one having spiky hair and greenish eyes while the other was shorter with gray eyes and a crew cut. The scent of maple syrup cued Wily that his fourth bunkie was up: A wolf named Ax, who had decided that Willy was on the menu for breakfast.
"I guess I am not the only one excited about today's match against the girl's cabins." Willy said, his head soaked in maple syrup.
"Yeah, and I need the energy. So if you don't mind, I got a big pancake from the mess hall and could use the meal."
Willy looked at Ax. "Why not? Not like we will be being eaten today anyway!" The others in the cabin cheered. Every week since the summer began it had been the boys against the girls for capture the flag, with the winners getting to eat the losers. The humes were not left out if they won either, since the furs on the losing team had to be turned into coats for the winners. Already Willy had a cot from Ax's sister and from a cute bunny girl just his age. But today he was eyeing a mousegirl that had been sizing him up for a cupcake.
A CUPCAKE! Sheesh! Willy would never live it down if that happened to him! He was just about to think more on it as he realized Ax had moved him to the pancake. More maple syrup was ladled over him, the other two humes getting a chuckle.
"Need I remind you two who was the Big Mac yesterday?" Willy said, Ax licking his lips in memory of that. The duo shut up right away, letting Ax eat his breakfast in peace, heading off to get some for themselves.
Willy shrugged as Ax wrapped the pancake tight around him and smiled. It was going to be a great day!
**********
"Got any nail polish?" Lauren asked her fuzzy bunkmates. Being the only hume in a cabin of furs, the brown haired, blue eyed ten-year-old felt a little awkward, but since she was big into stuffed animals and said bunkmates were... EXTRA snuggly, she didn't mind too much.
Besides, it got her away from her annoying brother Willy.
"I got some!" A rabbit said, tossing her the bottle. "It's the edible kind, hope that is all right.
"It's fine." Lauren replied to the rabbit, whose name was Tilly. Tilly was brown furred and very cute, easily Lauren's favorite to be eaten by too given her skill at baking. Her other two roommates were a pair of fox sisters with reddish fur named Minx and Jinx, and both were eager for revenge today.
"Tell you one thing." Minx said, looking over a map of the Capture the Flag area. "The boys are sneaky. Every week they have pulled a surprise attack, a covert ops. We need to do that this week."
Jinx nodded in agreement. "At breakfast, we will talk to the other cabins. See if we can find the most stealthy ones."
Lauren nodded, opening the nail polish and painting her nails. "Well I volunteer, if for no other reason than to outdo my smartass brother. Every week I had to put up with being roasted over a fire like some caught rabbit... er, no offense Tilly."
"None taken Lucious." Tilly joked, poking her friend. "But you are right. You should see how that one boy walks around in my fur, like it is some priceless trophy."
"THAT would be my brother." Lauren said, finishing her one nail and moving to the next. "He has a real crush on you. I bet he winds up your food pet when summer is over."
Jinx shook her head. "No way, I want that brother of yours!" She said. "If for no other reason than to get back at him for helping to stew some of the girls for the bear kids and that tiger. If he was my pet, I'd make him have to be stew at least once a week!"
Minx smacked her sister on the back of the head. "Focus girls! We got to win this week! As for you volunteering Lauren, I say go for it. See if you can find two or three others for the mission.
Lauren looked at her bunkies and hmmed. "I think I just did."
**********
At noon, the two camp areas of camp Iwanaeatya were bused into the woods for the Capture the Flag game. In all there were about 30 kids, fur and hume, on each side. All of them were about ten years old, some younger by one or two years and a few a year older, and all eager for the big match.
For three weeks now, every Thursday, the camps had faced each other for Capture the Flag, and each time the boys pulled victory out of the hat thanks to special tricks. In week one, the group used a female spy to find the flag, said female getting a boyburger later as thanks. Week two had the boys using a two front assault, the main attack on the flag getting by completely. But in week three Willy truly shined, leading a group of humes into the girl territory and, undetected, getting the flag.
This week marked the midway point of the summer, and the groups prepared for the match. The lead counselor, a big skunk, looked over the teams.
"Okay cabins! It's that time again, the Capture the Flag day!" Everyone cheered. "Remember! To capture someone, you have to score a hit on the sensor badge players have on their bandanna. If you are tagged, you must be escorted to the team prison, where you will wait for rescue by a teammate. We will play until a team wins. The losing teams' humes will be cooked for the dinner for the winners, and the furs of the losing team will be skinned for fur coats. Good luck to both teams, and remember to have fun!"
Willy looked at his sister. "Hope you are ready for a spin later!" He teased, several bears rubbing their tummies. Tilly looked at Willy.
"Well when WE win, I am putting PINK frosting on you, you fluffy little cupcake!" The girls laughed, Willy turning red at the thought of his dream fur taunting him.
"Stay strong man!" Ax said, teasing a little, helping Willy to focus on the game. The team members scrambled to their positions, putting on the sensor bands. The bands, a Fur invention, were triggered by touch from the other team. If triggered, they vibrate, tickling the wearer for a time. It was a humorous addition to an age-old game, and a welcome one for many.
At he sound of a shot, the game began. Willy looked to his bunkmates, who went and scattered. They had a job to do, while Willy headed for the boundary between the girl zone and the guy's zone. there were always sentries on both sides, and for the girls there were at leas five wolves and two mice. Too fast for a direct attack.
But then again, Willy was just the bait.
**********
Elsewhere, Lauren, Minx, Jinx, and Tilly crossed into boy territory, choosing a spot covered in brush. there were no boys here, as they were busy chasing girl's crossing over to distract any sentries.
"O.K. girls." Minx said. "The guys will likely hide the flag in the marshlands. They think that we won't go there because it is too icky. But we will surprise them."
Jinx nodded. "If the flag is not there, we will try the rock grove and then by the old cabin. Let's go."
The four moved stealthily, no boys noticing them as they charged after the girls. They would be deep in boy territory before the distraction was over.
************
"GET HIM!" A fox sentry said, chasing Willy. She was one of many going after the fast little boy, nimble and quick as various female furs chased him.
"Wait!" One cried, stopping the others, Willy running into the brush. "Remember last week? He has to be a distraction. Back to the borders, and watch out for any boys!"
Meanwhile, Willy ran further and further into girl territory, eeping when he was almost spotted, spying two of his comrades running by, a pair of mice. He sighed some as he saw he was no longer being chased. With anger, he realized his plan had failed. Surely the attack would not work. But then he noticed something. There were not many girls around. Where were they?
He thought little of it as he saw his friends, Toby and Abe, coming towards him as planned. Ax was nowhere in sight.
"We are all that made it." Abe said, looking around. "The rest of the flag force was tagged. They are taking them over by the mossy rocks."
"Figures." Willy said. "My sister probably chose the place. It has all the best flowers according to her. Well, I saw two others run by, so I say we have five around here at least. I take it Ax was caught too?"
Louie nodded. "He was one of the first. Bunny caught him."
"Well," Willy said. "slight change of plans. You two look for the flag, while I go rescue the group."
"You will get caught." Louie said.
"I know." Willy replied, heading off.
**********
"There it is!" Tilly whispered pointing at the marsh. It was full of muck and slime, and mosquitoes were everywhere. But in the center of it was the flag, guarded by a skunkboy. Lauren looked at Minx and hugged her, she had been right!
"Now to get it." Jinx said. " If one of us can lure the guard away, we might have a chance."
At that moment, Till eeped as she saw the skunk joined by two humes. There were too many right now for the plan to work.
"Dang it." Lauren cursed. "We will have to wait for now. they can't stay here forever."
*************
Willy oied as the guys by the mossy rocks had to put up with the girls singing and picking flowers. He shook his head in disgust at the sight. But he knew he had to get them out, and doing so would not be easy. The hume guarding them was the fastest girl in camp, and she had already caught two others who had tried.
All Willy had to do was touch one of them and all were free. So, he looked for the best angle...
...and felt a tickly sensation on his back.
"Gotcha boy!" A bear said. "Come join the party!"
"Dang it!" Willy said, cursing his ill luck. But at least, from what he saw, the two boys from before and Louie and Abe were not in the jail. That meant four were still hunting.
There was still a chance.
**********
"GO ABE GO!" Louie shouted, falling to girl touches just as he passed off the flag to Abe. Abe ran as fast as he could, but he was slow for the boys. The girls began to close in, but the border was near.
He ran for his life, as fast as he could. He was four steps away...
he gave one last push...
And Lauren ran by with the boys' flag.
Dumbfounded, Abe stood in his tracks as three exhausted flag guards stopped and wheezed, out of breath, the four girls they chased too fast for them. Abe was wide-eyed in disbelief. They had lost! Lost... TO A BUNCH OF GIRLS!
************
"This..." Abe said, doused in strawberry ice cream and wearing only a pair of edible nappies (Yes, nappies, not undies)
"Is..." Louie said, being sliced up for California rolls.
"HUMILIATING." Willy said, Tilly herself frosting his head with pink icing as he was encased in a white cupcake, his hands sticking out. The girls were laughing at the boys' humiliation, the guy furs forced to.... MODEL... their furs on a makeshift runway the girls had made.
As they found out, it was Lauren's doing that the flag was taken. On a gamble, the four ran into the marsh to surprise the three, thinking just briefly that the boys counted on the marsh being enough of a defense. She had been right, the three boys were slow and hardly agile, and the flag was in the girls' hands before they knew what had happened, chasing as fast as they could. But with the guy's ranks lessened by the trap being foiled, there was no stopping the four commandos.
To make matters worse, poor Ax was the first skinned, and now there he was, with a lining of super sensitive pink skin all over, forced to model the afterlook before the girls, getting actual wolf whistles as he went. Willy groaned as the fur girls nibbled on him, and Lauren came over with an impish grin.
"So you one once." Willy said quickly. "Big deal, we got you next week."
Lauren smiled and leaned in close. "Good thing I am getting a picture."
Willy was wide eyed. "YOU WOULDN'T!"
Snap! The camera Lauren was holding went off, getting a group pic of the hume boys of camp Iwanaeatya, all done up like fluffy desserts or girly treats. Not a one would live it down, nor would they forget the humiliation.
But for that night, the girls had the victory, and Lauren was the MVP behind it. As an honor, she actually got to taste her brother, just for fun.
"Mmmmm..." She said, licking some frosting from his arm. "Tastes like sweet revenge."
Every single girl agreed, gobbling their dinner with delight. For the girls, it was a major victory.
The boys could only hope it was the last.
