Versus: Based on Deadliest Warrior
Clone Troopers vs. Covenant Elite!
They are the baddest armies in sci-fi. If they ever faced each other, who would win in the firefight? Two squads of five are about to fight each other in a legendary battle:
Clone Troopers: Made famous by the Star Wars series The Clone Wars, clone troopers are the workhorse of the Grand Army of the Republic. In actuality, they work for Darth Sidious, as was revealed when Order 66 was executed... and so were the jedi as a result. Now they face a difficult opponent in the Elites. But they have plenty of hardware. They bring blaster rifles, blaster pistols, missle launcher, thermal detonator, and vibroblade to the fight.
Covenant Elite: Their alien name is near unprenounceable. For a time, they were the main soldiers of the Covenant in their fight against the humans. But then they were betrayed by the Prophets and scorned. In the end, some would help Humanity in their fight for survival... for now at least! Now they face the clones, bringing plasma rifles, plasma pistols, plasma grenades, fuel rod cannon, and power sword.
ROUND 1: Heavy Artillery (Fuel Rod Cannon vs. Missle Launcher)
WINNER: Clone Troopers. The ammo on a missle launcher may only be one, but it is reliable and effective, and most of all STABLE. Fuel rod cannons have a tendency to drop before their intended target, and the ammo is highly unstable, most dropped Cannons exploding, damaging units around them. Clearly it wold be better to fire and reload a reliable missle than perhaps blow up while firing a fuel rod. Besides, you only need one shot.
ROUND 2: Main Firearm (Blaster Rifle vs. Plasma Rifle)
WINNER: Clone Troopers?! The key is reloading. While the plasma rifle is much more powerful, it has two flaws. One is that continuous fire can cause it to overheat, leaving the user vulnerable. But the other problem is the inability to recharge or change out the ammo pack. Clones have the better weapon for this end, and can use it for longer than a Covenant firearm.
ROUND 3: Sidearm (Plasma Pistol vs. Blaster Pistol)
WINNER: Covenant. No suprises here. The key is the charged shot. While a blaster is continuously effective, a charged plasma shot can wipe out a foe effectively. Plus, it is very intimidating as a result.
ROUND 4: Grenades (Plasma Grenade vs. Thermal Detonator)
WINNER: Covenant. By damage and blast radius, both weapons are fairly similar. What makes the difference is the Plasma's ability to stock to a target. This can be a pandora's box sometimes, but 99% of the time it makes the target panic, maybe even take out other units.
ROUND 5: Melee (Vibroblade vs. Power Sword)
WINNER: Covenant. Next time clones should train in the Jedi art. Then they would have the more effective lightsaber. A vibroblade is as close as they get... and it is worthless against the much more durable power sword.
For this battle, each group has a squad of five. During the battle, you will see two numbers in parenthesis, like this:(5,5). This represents what each force has, the number on the left being clones, the one on the right being elites. Now, LET THE BATTLE BEGIN!
CONFLICT
(5,5) The clone drop ship has just let off TK-122 and his squad to invenstigate an abandoned facility, They have heard that an alien force, perhaps linked to the CIS, had dug in. They scattered about, weapons ready.
"CONTACT!" One said, firing his rifle into the weeds. from behind them emerged an armored alien in blue, weilding a strange looking weapon that shot bolts of green plasma. It took several rounds, but the alien went down eventually (5,4). Unfortunetly, sounds form the facility indicated the clones and sounded the alarm, and now the battle REALLY began.
Diving for cover, the clones began to blast at the facility. A stray bolt of plasma slammed a clone in the head, and with no sheilds, he had no chance (4,4). TK-122 pulled a thermal detonator from his belt and threw it towards the faciltiy. When he saw the dug in alien fly into the air, he knew he got the target (4,3). "Charge!" He cried, hearing the aliens speak. "For the Covenant!" They shouted, one tossing a grenade of their own. It hit one of the clones in the chest... but did not move!"
"GET IT OFF!" he screamed, trying to pull it off. Another clone came to help, but it was too late. TK-122 dove for cover as the two clones were blown apart (2,3). TK had it.
"Missle!" He cried to his surviving squad mate, who aimed at the facility and prepared to shoot. But the Covenant fired first, a fuel rod shooting out... but falling short. It exploded with a massive blast, but not much else. The clone fired his missle, and also missed. But his slammed into the facility, exposing it and collapsing a part of it on the covenant. He would have lived... had his fuel rod cannon not ruptured. The explosion collapsed the facility (2,2) and left theremaining covenant open. The missle launcher grabed his long vibroblade and charged the closest one, who readied a weapon of his own.TK-122 didn't even have time to scream out a warning before the power sword cut through vibroblade and clone with equal effectiveness.
(1,2) TK stood up, drew his blaster pistol, and fired on the covenant warrior. Draining the clip, the covenant finall submitted, his body burned and full of holes. (1,1). Tk-122 Looked about, and saw the last one nearby. He reloaded his clip and fired a shot. Then he saw why the covenant had been so hard to kill: they had sheilds!
But The covenant also had a pistol... one that charged up. TK-122 fired until the covenant did, the one plasma bot slamming into TK-122 chest, knocking him off his feet. He stayed alive only long enough to see the Covenant elite raise his fist in victory, uttering a mighty cry. (0,1)
WINNER: Covenent Elite!
No suprise here. Elites have better tactics, better weapons, and better skills. This fight should not have been as close as it was.
