It had been easier than Holly expected to convince the manager that Julia must have done something horrible to her food that caused her to bloat horribly and have indigestion, but then again she hadn't considered that the manager had been managing Julia long enough to form an opinion on her work ethic. In fact, he was quite sympathetic to her, although that could be explained as an attempt to avoid a lawsuit.
"Again, I am very sorry, ma'am. I promise you it will NEVER happen again. I will personally speak to the waitress in question and spare NO EXPENSE to ensure that your future experiences here at Calvin's Cafe are nothing short of the best." the manager had said hastily as he departed, apologizing almost as much as he was breathing, "And please, take this gift certificate for a free meal. I am truly sorry about this, if you ever again have subpar service be sure to let me know so that I can deal with it..."
Holly's reaction had been perfect, so perfect indeed she was seriously considering dropping cheerleading (which she wasn't that good at) for acting, which she found herself naturally skillful at. She had acted just indignant and unhappy enough that she easily convinced the manager of the legitimacy of her claim. Everything had worked out perfectly, in fact Julia's having gone missing probably turned the tables even more in her favor than they already were.
"Hey! Stop daydreaming!" Daisy's voice suddenly cut through Holly's reminiscence, "It's almost our stop!".
"Wha-? Sorry!" Holly said, looking around the bus and feeling as though she had just woken up from a light sleep, "Was I supposed to press the tape-thing for our stop?"
"You insult my friendship!" Daisy said feigning a pout, "It's almost as if you expect me to force my poor, food-poisoned friend to do everything. I was just making sure that you wouldn't get left on the bus." she continued, "But if you don't want to go shopping with me, that's fine. Why would I ever want to go shopping with my best friend? I mean-" Daisy suddenly broke into a fit of giggles, reminding Holly of how easily laughter came to her, "I mean -hahaha- why would I -hahahaha- ever *snort*" and with that Daisy lost all control over her speech.
"Looks like I have to do everything," Holly interrupted, pressing the yellow tape, "We almost missed our stop.". As the bus slowly pulled over in front of the mall, she stood up and tried to pull Daisy up with her.
"Noooooo!" Daisy pushed Holly away "Don't help me up!" she shrieked, still trying to muffle her giggles, "You look pregnant! I can't have a pregnant girl helping me around, I have to help the preg-" and she continued to carry on.
"Daisy!" Holly hissed, "You're making a scene!". Holly noticed that the other passengers, not to mention the bus driver, were looking at what was holding them up with a certain amount of curiosity. Daisy wasn't exactly being quiet, saying so would be as inaccurate as claiming Venus orbits the Earth. Although the passengers did not include anyone she knew, and Holly thanked her lucky stars for that, she still didn't want a bunch of random people thinking she was pregnant. News got around, and the last thing she wanted to happen when her parents came back from their business trips was for them to hear from some busybody neighbor that their daughter had really been having a bit too much fun while they were gone, and the word on the street is that she's pregnant, YOUR daughter, maybe you should ask her about it.
Daisy sobored up faster that a drunk driver who's just killed someone. Holly wasn't much of a hisser, and when she hissed she meant business. "Sorry!" Daisy whispered as she quietly walked out of the bus with Holly. The bus pulled away in a puff of exhaust, and Holly and Daisy were just a few yards away from the mall.
Holly sighed as she looked down at her distended stomach. "You shouldn't say things like that because it looks believable. Someone might tell my parents, and that'll be the end of me." she said, feeling guilty and yet justified for hissing at Daisy.
"I know!" Daisy nearly squeaked, "I'm sorry! I was just having one of my laughing fits, and you know how I get in those!" she giggled.
"It's okay, just try not to tell anyone who might ever come in contact with my parents at any point in their lives anything." Holly said, smiling slightly.
Daisy looked around nervously as though she was afraid of someone spying on them. There was a group of teenagers standing not too far away, but they were loudly talking and joking, unlikely to overhear anything. After confirming safety, Daisy whispered "If you don't want anyone to think that, then why are you going shopping? People will leap to conclusions without silly old me." she said seriously.
Holly rubbed her tummy thoughtfully as she thought of an answer. Why was she going outside with the remains of another human still in her digestive system? She had even skipped school today, she could easily not go shopping.
"I suppose it's because I kind of want to flaunt my freedom," Holly answered Daisy with complete honesty, more thinking aloud than answering her, "I want them all to know that I can do whatever I want. I'm not responsible Holly anymore, I'm irresponsible Holly. I can skip school and still go to the mall if I want to. And I want to do this so that everyone can see me. So that they can know I'm doing whatever I want, and that I'm more free now than they are. Sure, it's kind of mean in a way, but they usually get more freedom than me, so I need to really let my week shine.". Holly fell silent suddenly, realizing she was revealing a deep inner part of herself to Daisy in the middle of a very public place.
"I understand," Daisy said solemnly, placing a reassuring hand on Holly's shoulder, "I used to like to do things like that to, y'know since my mom wouldn't notice anyway, but after a while it wasn't fun anymore because I could do it whenever I wanted to. This is your golden chance, girl, enjoy it while you can!". As though she unconsciously realized the exchange between them was getting far too deep, Daisy hastily added "And you could really use a new wardrobe. Seeing as you're" Daisy gently patted Holly's belly, "Going to need bigger sizes. Maybe even maternity sizes.".
Holly couldn't help but laugh a little, if not at the words then at the ridiculous expression Daisy had adopted in an attempt to look like a simpering housewife. "I'm sure you don't want to spend all this time just having an emotionally wrenching conversation," Holly said, walking towards the mall entrance, "Come on, I know you prefer to have the emotionally wrenching conversations while shopping.".
"Dearest Holly," Daisy said making her weird face again and speaking in a phony British accent, "I would much prefer to have the dress in blue. But-, but-, it pains me to say this, but I fear my love of blue stems from an abusive childhood, or perhaps from the trauma I suffered when my aunt made fun of me when I was seven. Perhaps red, but no! Red probably means I had a deep fear of getting my period when I was younger, and now I-" Daisy broke off in a giggling fit once more. Holly couldn't help but catch her contagious laugh as they walked into the mall to begin their shopping expedition.
Despite feeling slightly guilty, Holly paid little mind to Daisy's chattering as they shopped, contributing no more than "Mmm", "Right", "Yeah", or rarely "Spot on, old bean" which never failed to reduce Daisy to giggles. Holly herself, however, was more concerned with what had taken place yesterday and what it meant for her. She had been basically unable to get it out of her head, and her consideration of it had basically boiled down to a few basic thoughts. Firstly, she was done for if anyone found out. At first she figured she'd be thrown in jail for life if she was caught, but recently she had began considering that she would be placed in Area 51 or something. Surely devouring members of your own species whole was not a normal behavior. She could not afford to be caught.
Secondly, Holly felt she should tie up all loose ends. She couldn't really think of that many loose ends that could be tied up, though. Possibly the manager might get suspicious, maybe some customers at the cafe had seen her. Maybe everyone who had seen her since she ate Julia was a loose end. Heck, maybe even Daisy was a loose end. Fortunately, Holly couldn't really think of any people who were ends so loose they needed to be snipped immediately. It had seemed as though the manager had bought her story, and at the very least he would likely avoid mentioning her incident to deter negative press about the restaurant where he worked. She hadn't been very attentive while digesting, so it was possible some customers had seen her, but it wouldn't really be feasible for her to track them down. The more she thought about it, the more it seemed disposing of more people would only make the problem worse.
Thirdly, and this was the thought that made Holly most uncomfortable, she would rather like to do it again. She didn't like to think of herself as a murderer, but the fact remained her last victim had yet to even hit the toilet before she wanted to finish off another. Holly wasn't very proud that she had spent the greatest part of her time considering how to devour someone else without any fear of retribution, but she rationalized it to herself, deciding on criteria to judge any potential meal. In the end, she decided she would only eat someone if either their life was meaningless to them or if by their life others were made miserable.
So occupied was she with her thoughts that she only realized something was wrong when Daisy slapped her across the face. As soon as she realized what had happened, her face must have registered it and Daisy burst into tears. "You looked so dazed, like you didn't know what was going on! I kept asking you if you were alright, but you just kept saying 'Yeah' and looking out of it. I wasn't sure if you could hear me, so I tried to get your attention. I'm so sorry, I was just afraid you were having a seizure or something from what you ate yesterday. Did I leave a mark? I'm sooooo sorry, I just meant to get your attention. You're okay, aren't you?" Daisy blubbered anxiously, "You haven't been right all day! I think we should go to your house right now.".
"Yeah, I'm fine." Holly said, rubbing her cheek, "Let's, let's go home.". She allowed Daisy to lead her out to the bus, thinking quickly. Daisy knew something was up, but Holly still hoped she could blame it on her 'food poisoning' from yesterday.
Ignoring Daisy's worried murmers ("What if you faint? Should I call 911? Should I call a hospital? I don't know first aid! Should I call someone right now? Your parents aren't home, my mother won't know what to do. Maybe I should call an ambulance. Is this a serious condition? Could you *gasp* DIE from it? I don't want you to die."), Holly considered everything. The best idea she could come up with was to somehow convince Daisy that she was okay after all, and just a little bit sick, nothing that she wouldn't quickly recover from without the help of any medical professionals.
"Stop thinking and pay attention to what's happening!" Holly thought bracingly, then she spoke aloud "Hey, Daisy, I'm fine, just a little bit tired. Maybe I shouldn't have gone out shopping today, but I'm feeling better already. How about another sleepover? If I start to die or something, it'd be nice to have someone there.".
Daisy smiled a big, trembling grin. "You really think so? But what if you DO start to die? I wouldn't know the first thing to do!".
"Call 911!" Holly grinned back, "What, 911's too difficult a number for you to remember?".
Daisy chuckled slightly, steering Holly towards the bus as it drove up. "I'd panic, you know me. Just like in the mall. I'd lose it, I probably wouldn't even be able to find the phone, let alone dial a number. Listen, you sure you're okay? You don't need me to call someone? I don't want to be the only one around if you do start to kick it. I couldn't live with, with, watching my, my, my best friend DIE and being unable to-" Daisy started to cry, and Holly could do nothing but hug her, feeling as though she was watching after Daisy more than Daisy was watching after her.
Daisy had quieted down to weak whimpers by the time the bus reached her stop. Holly gently touched her shoulder, pressing the tape with her other hand. "You get off here, come to my house later for the sleepover. I promise I won't die before you get there.".
"Oh Holly, try not to!" Daisy said tearily, trying for a weak smile as she got off the bus. As soon as Daisy was out of sight of the bus, Holly stretched out, putting her hands behind her head, and smiling a confident grin.
When the bus reached her stop, Holly casually pressed the tape, hurrying off the bus eagerly. Once she was in the safety of her own home, Holly felt confident talking aloud. "I'm a master actor, the world is my stage. It won't be hard at all to convince Daisy that it was just a temporary dizziness, and that I'm feeling well enough for a sleepover. It'll be pretty fun, and Daisy will drop all those thoughts of involving other people. Once that's done, I can enjoy the rest of my parent-free vacation in peace. Maybe we can go shopping again later, once I have pondered for a great time regarding this cannibalism affair, sufficient consideration to glut even my mind's voracious appetite for the perverse topic. Anyhow, I'd better get together some stuff for a sleepover.".
It was not at all hard for Holly to prepare for a sleepover, as she had, just the night before last, had Daisy over and hadn't really cleaned up. All it took was a little bit of cleaning up the crumbs on the sleeping bags before Holly considered the room sleepover ready. After that, Holly popped some popcorn and rented another movie, suddenly feeling too tired to have a very active sleepover. The sleeping bags were very inviting, warm, soft, cozy. Before she realized what she was doing, Holly had climbed into one of the sleeping bags, bowl of popcorn not too far away. Her last thought before she went to sleep was "I should have put more butter on the popcorn.".
Holly woke up with a start to two eyes staring at her apprehensively. "I didn't lock the door?" Holly thought to herself in a daze, "So much for brilliant acting saving the day.". There was something unnerving about the way Daisy was looking at her, almost as though Daisy had arrived in time to see a wolf sleeping in Holly's sleeping bag with Holly nowhere in sight.
"You're awake." Daisy said emotionlessly, then quickly "Were you having a nightmare?".
"Be right back, bathroom." Holly mumbled, hastily clambering out of her sleeping bag and hurrying to the bathroom. "What's going on?" Holly wondered to herself as she sat on the toilet, "Daisy looks like she's seen a ghost! How can I make up lies to cover up if I don't know what I'm supposed to be covering up?". Flushing the toilet, Holly left without washing her hands, returning to Daisy's haunted gaze.
"Hey, does your family have a history of, oh let's say, talking in their sleep?" Daisy asked, with just a trace of fear in her voice, "And, just for arguments sake, if they do, nothing they say is true, right? It's just like, dream speech?".
"I must have said something incriminating in my sleep!" Holly realized, "That's one way I never thought I would give myself away. I guess now I know the problem, I can try to play it off as a bad dream.". "You know, now that you mention it," she said to Daisy, "I was having a pretty bad dream.".
"Really?" said Daisy tightly, looking nervous, "Did it involve digesting a waitress and lying to me about how you just had indigestion to keep it quiet? Because that's what you were saying.".
Holly turned cold with fear, but tried to play it off "Daisy, it was just a dream. You know how things get mixed up when you sleep.".
"It's like you said," Daisy responded, sounding unconvinced, "You shouldn't say things like that because it sounds believable, or whatever you said. I know it sounds ridiculous, but you were really giving a lot of detail.".
"The dream was pretty detailed at the time, I can barely remember it now!" Holly dismissed it with a wave of her hand, "Come on, let's have the sleepover!".
"That reminds me, you said something about eating someone last time too!" Daisy exclaimed suddenly, "And that was just before you got 'food poisoning'!"
"Don't get overexcited, I have stupid dreams!" Holly retorted, "Listen to yourself! If you heard someone else saying that, you'd think they were a raving lunatic. Calm down. IT WAS JUST A STUPID DREAM!".
Daisy kept looking at Holly suspiciously, but she had stopped hurling accusations. As rationally as Holly had ever heard Daisy speak, she said "How do you explain your talking in your sleep perfectly explaining all the suspicious behaviors you've been exhibiting lately, then?".
"Well," Holly began, then "You're never going to fully believe me, are you? How about this: Everything I said in my sleep is probably one hundred percent true, if what you've told me so far is an indication. Here's something else, I can't have anyone spreading around my little secret. Looks like you know it. Connect the dots." she concluded, smiling predatorily.
"Stay away!" Daisy said, backing off and pulling out her cellphone, "I'm calling the police!".
"Too slow!" Holly said, throwing herself at Daisy and knocking the cellphone out of her hand, "Sorry it had to come to this. Kind of.". Daisy dove for the phone, and Holly seized her feet. Holly stretched her mouth as wide as she could, slipping in Daisy's feet.
"Stop it! Get off me! HELP! HELP!" Daisy screamed, still trying to reach the phone. Holly ignored her, slowly working her way up Daisy's legs. She thought must have looked like a snake, her arms holding Daisy's legs somewhat still while her mouth gulped them down. Holly slowly pulled herself up Daisy, finishing up her legs faster than she had thought possible and moving on.
Daisy was still yelling for help, and trying to squirm free. Desperately, she kicked the inside of Holly's stomach and struck out at Holly's unprotected face with her hands. Moving quickly, Holly devoured Daisy's butt with a single massive swallow, then reached up seizing Daisy's hands. With a startled shriek, Daisy saw her hands shoved into her best friend's mouth.
Holly took her time working her way up Daisy's somewhat plump frame, but it wasn't long before she had shoved Daisy's belly into her own. Daisy's struggles were confined greatly, but her yelling was, if anything, increasing in volume. Holly, realizing she had to end it soon, jammed Daisy's breasts into her mouth and swallowed. All that remained was Daisy's head.
Holly paused for a moment to allow Daisy to finish shouting. Once she paused to take a breath, Holly shoved Daisy's head down her throat, closing her mouth and sealing her fate before Daisy could take the breath. Holly lay lazily on her sleeping bag, waiting for Daisy to settle fully in her stomach.
No sooner had Daisy filled Holly's tummy than was she struggling. Holly rubbed her stomach awkwardly, burping once. "Sorry Daisy, but you brought this upon yourself you know." Holly admonished her belly as the struggles slowly ceased.
"URP!" Holly belched herself into relief, lying on top of her stomach to try to help her digestion. She could feel Daisy gurgling softly inside her gut, pretty much still in fine shape, except for having suffocated. Hoping to finish off her friend, Holly slowly flipped herself with a loud sloshing sound from her stomach. She lay almost flat on her sleeping bag, her bloated stomach on top of her. Groaning, she turned on the movie she was going to watch with Daisy, watching it and eating the nearby popcorn. "Enjoying the sleepover, Daisy?" was her last thought before she fell asleep, one hand carelessly lying across her tummy as she happily digested her best friend.
Irresponsibility

"Responsibility Part Two"
There's unmarked digestion in this, so if you keep reading past the vore, don't be surprised
Also, there's scat with absolutely no detail whatsoever
Anyone who reads the whole thing, here's a little game for you to play. Try to spot the line where Holly is most out of character. There's one line in particular that I think sounds nothing like a high school girl, and everything like a Shakespeare villain (that's not to imply that there aren't many lines that don't sound in character, there's just one that I thought was particularly egregious).
Idea kind of by Sitharc, anything good to him and anything bad to me attribute (can you do that with verbs in English?).

"You insult my friendship" - sounds like a line from a badly dubbed 70's kungfu flick. :P
Good writing. The circumstances leading up to the end felt a little 'convenient' but otherwise quite enjoyable.

Not quite how I imagined a sequel, but still alright x3. Couldve used some digestion detail and/or some in the scat bit as well. If its alright with you I might write my own version of a sequel then linkin/crediting the first part of this. Glad you continued this either way.

Best friends have a very bad tendency to get eaten on Ekas portal.
