Yeah, evidently when you go to Hell, you're assigned a demon to torture you. And the more you suffer, the more you both get paid. Apparently you still have to pay for things like food, housing, and clothing (you arrive in Hell naked BTW). Something like being impaled will only net you $3 or so, so you can see how this would play out.
It's not a very long manga, only about three volumes or so, and a lot of the stuff in the third will likely horrify you and/or make you cry, but the ending is really, really heartwarming.
