Since the original portal is inoperable, Twilight attempts to create an alternative method to travel between the two worlds.
As per Celestia's prior involvements, she volunteered to help the off-worlded princess with her experiment.
But don't worry, the plan is fool-proof. Twilight read about it in a book somewhere.

And then when Sunset asks Celestia if Twilight managed to go back Equestria, she would just reply that Twilight is in the place she wanted to be the most, and then she would walk away, showing off her hugely "pregnant" belly to the rest of Canterlot High.

The only problem being that when everyone else starts noticing her belly getting steadily smaller...
Of course, this is if, in fact, Twilight's experiment didn't succeed.
