Snakes don't really have dicks like mammal dicks. Male snakes and reptiles in general posses a contraption known as a "hemipenis" - basically, they have 2 penises, which helps them grip the female's cloaca and not slip out. The hemipenises also protrude from the male's cloaca, which is at the base of it's tail, aka pretty far down the body, so, as a herpetology student who is used to seeing snake genitalia it is really weird seeing it portrayed as a mammalian penis way more up the body than usual.
