Griefing the Gryphons By Cainiam -- Report

A birthday gift for  Braeburnt using our rp characters Cane Crecca and Boosted Snail in an alternate setting where they're both in the military and at war with the gryphon empire.

Lord Cane decides to deal with the Commander of the enemy forces privately, with the assistance of his aide, Corporal Boost. Seeing his Lordships treatment of the enemy stirs up some emotions and passions soon run high.

"pressing his own hooves into the sphere of bubbling acids, feeling for the gases amidst the sea of churning flesh and coaxing them downwards. Deep in the bowels these gases grew more potent, being fed by the very air around them, brewing up into a nose burning storm of sickeningly stinky flatulence."

That's not how farts work...
They're a result of fermentation.

I guess it's kind of weird, but scientific errors like this really put me off.

"Scientific errors" are kind of negated in a world where magical ponies can fly and cast spells.

Well, yes. But even in the context of fictional physical laws there are still expectations of consistency. The magic doesn't get explained because it's magic and defies explanation, and outside of magic things seem to act in relatively "normal" ways (with a lot of cartoon physics, but these don't say much about where farts come from) so don't need explaining. In this case I think part of why I don't like it may be because an attempt to rationalise it has been made at all.

I don't really know though. It's just my preferences, and I expect that most people here are similar in that our preferences generally defy explanation.

The purpose of the elucidation on the matter wasn't to define the scientific process or rationalise it, but rather to lengthen the description and hammer in the potency of the particular burst of flatulence in a visually stimulating way.
