Alexis McElven - 5'10" - Geneticist specialized in treating genetic conditions, especially prenatal corrections.

Personal:
Alexis was born and raised in rural Scotland. She experimented with many variations of sub-culture while growing up and eventually settled on a punk aesthetic that she never out-grew, even in grad school. This included clothes that her family viewed as "promiscuous" and changing her naturally brown-red hair to a vibrant pink.

The promiscuous title turned out to be accurate when she discovered in college that she had a mild case of nymphomania. She managed to avoid pregnancy until her last semester of grad school. The child was born a few weeks after graduation but nearly died from an undiagnosed heart condition in her first month. Though Alexis gave the child up for adoption she also decided to focus her research into prenatal gene therapy.

Professional:
Alexis put in a few years at a genetics lab and privately researched, developed, and patented a simple retrovirus to change hair color and hair qualities. In a somewhat prophetic move, she used herself as the first human subject, making the pink hair with wide ringlets her default. The retrovirus became incredibly popular in Hollywood and Broadway, and Alexis became independently wealthy, at least enough to spend a few years on her first pet project. Since a treatment for her first child's heart condition had been developed in her time at the genetics lab, she turned to the next item on her list of genetic conditions to cure: Mortality. After a few failed concepts she came upon an unusual theory which involved turning a fetus into an enormous cluster of donor cells prepared to flood the mother's body. To test this, she let her nymphomania run rampant for a month and found herself pregnant with twins. Again she became her own test subject. This did not turn out how she expected (see Embri: https://aryion.com/g4/view/368523#item-itself ).

After two years of pregnancy and experiments, Alexis met a surrogate-psychiatrist at a fertility and reproduction symposium. She found Katja easy to talk to and very resourceful with her solutions. Alexis soon admitted that she had been pregnant for two and a half years and asked for Katja's help. Katja brought in a biochemist named Nadia Bindeen, who was able to evaluate Alexis' condition and suggest some solutions that hadn't occurred to the geneticist. Between Alexis and Nadia, they were able to remove the immortal twins and soon after to develop new processes to utilize their rejuvenating effects. The twins became the first Embri and eventually returned to Alexis' womb as a more permanent fixture.

The three finalized the process to create Embri and soon enough all three carried an Embri or two at all times. They quickly founded the Playthings company, largely funded with Alexis' personal fortune. Alexis still frequently acted as the test bed for new treatments and procedures.

A few years later, Alexis found a male lab tech who was both a maieusophile and willing to let her test on him. Since then the two have been nearly inseparable. The company asset Embri are gathered from women who are desperate and in need of aid - entirely at the expense of the company. The personal collection of the Playthings (28 Embri including 4 twin sets and a triplet set) were mostly provided by Alexis and her stud. Since the Embri allow for normal reproductive function, Alexis averages one pregnancy each year, all of which become Embri in their last month of development and stay in their mother for another couple months.
