Something I did for a trade with a really talented artist on FA http://www.furaffinity.net/user/coltrez
Contains gory digestion and lots of stomach scenes. Have fun with that^^ (disposal scene after dotted line)

Once again lovely story, this one was rather interesting too.
Still not a big fan of scat but good story non the less.

that is why I have marked the disposal scene, so people can skip it. Forgot to put in in the description though..... One moment

Scientific progress goes "grrgll"

Very nice, as always. I love stories set in the 19th Century, and science... Even if it doesn't go well. Science doesn't always go well, hehe. And I loved the comment about the dragon's belly being a little swollen after he woke up, hehe.
A detail which caught my attention: your English here "sounded" more American than usual. You talked of "gallons", and you put some periods inside the quotations marks. Since this was a trade, was that intentional?

Yes, the two humans were supposed to be americans and so I tried to make use their weird units and stuff.
I am glad you liked the story. What do you say about it as a digestion expert?

Oh, well, me a digestion expert? You'll make me blush :3
Well, since this is featuring a mythical animal, everything is absolutely correct. And that's it, hehe.
Now, if we were talking about a real animal swallowing a smaller one alive, I don't think the "acidic fumes" would be that much of an issue. The concentration of hydrochloric acid would not be enough for that. I think it's under 1% in volume in humans, maybe other animals have it slightly higher, but still, it wouldn't be enough to produce annoying fumes. It's not industrial concentrated...
Keep in mind that the stomach doesn't use acid alone: it also uses pepsin, an enzyme which dissolves proteins. And together with the heat (which speeds up chemical reactions), the stomach can dissolve flesh quite efficiently. So I think that if the prey is small enough not to be squeezed and die suffocated, its death would be due more to burns directly rather than to the air being foul. Maybe extensive burns would cause a shock or something like that, but I'm not 100% sure about this. Another possibility would be death by drowning if there is a lot of liquid in the stomach.

Interesting thoughts. But I would speculate that dissociating acids would still create fumes which may or may not be acidic themselves but in any case far from breathable. But this is where we would need a chemist to answer the question.

I once prepared a dissolution of hydrochloric acid (which is easy to find very concentrated as a cleaning product) with a concentration similar to the one in the human stomach. It certainly didn't smell like acid (it didn't smell at all in fact, or at least I smelled nothing), so that's why I'd say that it would not create any annoying or "far from breathable" fume. But of course, I'm not sure. Maybe at 37º C and a 100% of humidity, things are different.
I would surely like to ask a lot of stuff to a chemist, LOL.

Another thing I've just realized: I didn't use distilled water, and the water in my area has a lot of minerals. Maybe that altered it as well. I'll definitively have to repeat my experiment at some point. There is also the fact that vomit certainly has a "far from breathable" smell, which I don't think it's caused by enzymes... Again, yes, I would love to talk a chemist.

I used acidic bathroom cleaner once and i was very happy I had a gas mask for the stuff reeked and burned in the nose.

Thanks for your feedback. You are right, the dragon could have used some more description. I was tasked to focus heavily on digestion and disposal so the predator himself ended up a little short.
So since you probably did not click on it for the story, what caught your eyes? What was your favourite part? I have another dragon related story in the making. Some market research might improve the result ;)

If it had been requested by my trade partner I woul have added urine. It is none of my personal interests so I do not have a big drive to include it. Maybe i will di it with more mammalian predators or anthros.
At some point I might do more description of this dragon but i try to avoid exposition dumps. So you can gradually see a more detailed pocture of the dragon as you read the story.
Thanks for your interest.
