a helpless lady finds herself the prey of a terror bird, nothing more, nothing less.
for whoever added the "thumbnail not credited" tag, it's just a still from the tv show primeval.

Terror birds are really good predators in my mind and there's not a lot of them so it's good to see one~

Jesus that thumbnail scared me

It was one of the better creature designs from Primeval. I remembered this monster vividly back from 2011 when i first saw it. So I knew exactly what I was going to use as the thumbnail when i uploaded this story.

Really excellent writing and one of the most realistic digestion descriptions I can recall with a carnivorous bird as the predator. Although the Terror Bird's origin was not discussed in detail, creating one of these would be far more plausible than a dinosaur as their DNA would still be viable and an ostrich egg would be a perfect vessel to support the embryo. It could possibly be so easy by the next decade that I could imagine such exotic creatures being illicitly sold to rich collectors as an impressive and ferocious 'trophy pet' which might better explain its escape than from a reputable scientific institution. I could even imagine this one having a small camera mounted on its head unnoticed by Tamara, and her meeting the creature far from accidental. Great story with good potential for a sequel. Thanks for sharing!

i like to write my feral preds full real. hence i gave the most accurate description of bird digestion i think i have ever seen. lots of people assume birds drool and swallow, but they are much different when compared to mammals. they use gravity to basically shovel food in so its a bit more of a rough ride for the hapless Tamara.
