It's a day like any other for the young Dragon Handler, Citrine. Having a job at the Dragon Ranch has been an exciting and educational experience for her, of course it also entails seeing someone get eaten by one of these great creatures every other day. So she decides to make a video to help educate people on how to handle an encounter with a dragon. Unfortunately, things don't go exactly as she planned.

Good little story. I like how casually they treated the loss of a life.

Thank You!
I guess when dealing with people getting eaten as a day-to-day occurrence, one get's used to it.

Entertaining, funny and well-written little story. I assume that in this alternate universe, dragons are apparently protected/endangered animals considering the handlers are sent to capture rogue ones alive even if they have eaten numerous people. Realistically speaking though, a world with giant man eating dragons would likely be far different than the world depicted, even to the point of humans being eaten into extinction way back in the Stone Age when there were only rocks and clubs to fend them off. I thing the word you were looking for when naming the species of the 'star' dragoness of the little film was meant to be the "Appalachian Raptor" given it is native to the Eastern United States with its Appalachian Mountain Range. I can see great potential for numerous other vore-themed stories based on this modern world inhabited by large and dangerous dragons. Thanks for sharing and hope we see more!

Well this is a little awkward. Yes, they are supposed to be Appalachian Raptors. Thank you for pointing that out to me!
In this universe dragons evolved normally alongside other life, and their impact did not change much in the course of evolution. They were almost wiped out by humans though, and once people gained the common sense that these were just animals, not demons, Europe started the Dragon Ranch to help restore populations.
Of course people are still going to be upset about that, humans never like animals that prove them wrong in their assessment of being the apex predator XD

But you do not think the dragons you describe wouldn't be the apex predators compared to cavemen with rocks and clubs 100,000 years before? Scientists tell us that humans could have never survived in a world with large predatory dinosaurs and I believe similar sized flying dragons would be a far greater threat. And rather than demons, even in our own world many human cultures regarded dragons as gods despite being imaginary, so in a world where they are real it would be likely even more people would worship them. Even the God of the Bible is described as a huge, fire breathing creature with enormous wings that demanded gold and was fed mass quantities of sheep, goats and cattle (not to mention that his highest servants the Seraphim were translated in ancient Christian texts as "dragons".

While imagination is a point of view, and this is technically a fantasy world. That being said, I will do my best to justify dragon presence in this alternate reality.
Dragons do not come from dinosaurs, they come from a different line of vertebrate that had a common ancestor that was a 6 'legged' fish, that crawled on shore some time in the late Devonian.
Of course dragons are immensely superior to the cave-men. And not just humans were effected by the dinosaurs; the whole of Mammalia was prevented from becoming more than large rodents because of the dinosaurs. dragons were similarly effected, and received the same opportunity to diversify after the KT extinction, and while they may have been able to take greater advantage over other species, not every dragon became overly large unless their habitat supported such sizes. Even when they could obtain that size they were not overly abundant, otherwise they would overwhelm their food. Early humans would have been seen as prey just like modern humans. Pretty much everything with sharp teeth saw cave-men as potential prey. But since humans breed like rabbits, and were able to use tools and wits, their species was able to endure until around the dark ages when they had technology and fortresses that were much more effective at deterring and killing dragons. Earlier humans would have viewed dragons as gods, and made sacrifices to keep them appeased. And naturally a predator won't drive its prey to extinction because that will just wind up with the predator dying as well. Once humans decided their gods were more like themselves though, they were tired of bowing to the will of the creatures that ate them. And since dragons did not evolve to cope with having their populations culled so rapidly, they declined greatly and humanity was able to succeed in their conquest.

Ah well, you probably take the dragon slaying feats in D&D, comics, b-novels seriously but in the real Medieval times when St. George slaying the dragon was depicted in art, you never see a dragon bigger than a pony and most are as small as a goat because people who really did fight bears, wolves and boars with medieval weapons knew that no human, not even a saint is going to be able to kill a dragon bigger than a pony. But as the years have gone by and people became more and more ignorant of real human and animal capabilities, the dragon slaying feats of humans have become more and more ridiculous. You should also consider that if humans were constantly being hunted by dragons since they were cave men, they would have always lived a hunter-gatherer kind of existence and would have never invented metalurgy, mined iron ore, etc. And the first time a human did manage to kill a very young or very old one with some luck, the dragons would likely put a quick end to them before they could become a bigger threat.

This was a fun story, I don't know how I have missed to see this one earlier!
The nonchalant behavior of the handlers was just as entertaining as seeing the girl being gobbled up. I hope you will write more from this world, Citrine makes an interesting anchor girl, although probably not too safe to stick around if troubles should befall you in the form of a dragon.
