Very nice! Somehow I hadn't even realized there was a time skip in this until I saw the two sections back to back. Guess that shows MY reading comprehension skills...
And you managed to keep the tension up throughout the outdoor scene really well, even right up to the end. And I enjoyed how Cali's madness reverted her back into "tour guide" mode. Rereading her lines, though, I want to say I think she didn't say anything dangerous to Sam? But in this society, who knows what Resource Control would consider dangerous...it was more than nothing, after all, just...incoherent.

Wow, I was expecting Daniel to sacrifice himself or Sam to get killed defending Danny. I like this better, so much sweeter. Although, I wonder how the now very clear corruption and manipulation by the prey (not that it surprises me all that much) bodes for the future...

I do hope to write a sequel to this at some point. And we'll just have to see how long Danny and Sam's luck holds up *evil grin*.
