Special Containment Procedures: Discoveries of SCP-YING-1 are to be carefully collected by biohazard specialists, using rubber gloves and non-slip tongs. Once collected, SCP-YING-1 are to be secured in lead-lined boxes that are filled with impact absorbent materials, such as foam or bubble wrap, which need to be delivered to the underground SCP Facility in site ██ in █████████, FL, which can be either stored or used for research purposes. In the event of SCP-YING-1 contaminating an individual or multiple individuals, the individual/s become instances of SCP-YING-2. An extraction team, disguised as animal handlers, are to deliver instances of SCP-YING-2 to the underground SCP Facility in site ██ in █████████, FL. Mild amnesiacs are to be administered to anyone witnessing the presence of SCP-YING-1 and SCP-YING-2.
Victims that have turned into SCP-YING-2 are to be kept in an underground enclosure that is 35 meters x 35 meters wide, and 5 meters tall, which is to be fitted with skylights. The supports within the underground enclosure are to be kept free of any structures created by SCP-YING-2 for any purposes resulting in breaching containment. The skylights must be unobstructed at all times in order to allow natural lighting into the underground enclosure. Entry into the enclosure must be pre-approved by the site manager, and by instances SCP-YING-2-a and SCP-YING-2-b.
Feeding is to occur at regular intervals of breakfast (7:00AM), lunch (12:00PM), and dinner. (7:00PM) Diet will marginally consist of a mix of snails, slugs, oysters, clams, and various other types of shellfish and molluscs, which can be modified depending on the SCP-YING-2 population's overall behavior. Diet can also consist of other sources of nutrition, such as food typically consumed by humans, or biological matter that is not fit for human consumption but is otherwise acceptable to SCP-YING-2 standards. Additional items can also be provided to SCP-YING-2 population, provided that their behavior is acceptable, and the items in question is approved by site manager. If unacceptable behavior is displayed at any point, then the site manager has permission to modify the dietary needs for the SCP-YING-2 population or retake any items given to SCP-YING-2 population.
Personnel with security clearance level 2 access may enter into the underground enclosure for cleaning and maintenance purposes, provided they have gained permission from the site manager. Personnel with level 2 access can communicate or interact with instances of SCP-YING-2, but must refrain from antagonizing, provoking, or attacking any instances of SCP-YING-2. Testing can be requested by personnel with a security clearance level of 3, but any tests involving instances of SCP-YING-1 must be approved by site manager. Any class-D personnel that becomes SCP-YING-2 instances after exposure to SCP-YING-1 can either be terminated or moved to the SCP-YING-2 underground enclosure. Testing that involves introducing class-D personnel into the underground enclosure of the SCP-YING-2 population must be approved by site manager, and must have the class-D personnel mental profiles reviewed. Site manager must notify O5 command ten minutes prior, and ten minutes after notifying O5 command, for any personnel that enters into the underground enclosure and of any tests taking place.
In the event of overpopulation occurring within SCP-YING-2s underground SCP Facility enclosure, the site manager may request from O5 personnel to grant permission to send a kill team into the enclosure to reduce the population of SCP-YING-2. They will be instructed to exterminate between 1/5 to 3/5 of the total SCP-YING-2 population, with the exception of any female instances of SCP-YING-2 and SCP-YING-2-a, and with further exception to specific individuals of instances of SCP-YING-2. The order to exterminate the SCP-YING-2 population can be issued once every month, to a maximum period of 5 years. The kill team can be issued with any melee weapons or ranged weapons of their choice, but must be equipped in riot armor. Terminated instances of SCP-YING-2 are to be taken out of the underground enclosure and cremated. After depopulation of the SCP-YING-2 underground enclosure, the kill team must leave the underground enclose and be checked by the onsite medic for any injuries sustained. Every member of the kill team must be tested for poison, infection, and necrotization of flesh.
Description: SCP-YING-1 is a green crystal of unknown composition, containing a hollow and pressurized cavity that releases a small amount of glowing fluid when sufficient kinetic force is applied. This fluid contains transformative properties that can painfully turn any living organism into instances of SCP-YING-2. SCP-YING-1 can be commonly found during the low tide in regions around and on the shores of █████████, FL. The fragile nature of SCP-YING-1 can unintentionally release its transformative fluid, which can burn through most forms of non-organic material in a manner similar to highly corrosive acid. An ounce of this fluid is capable of transforming a human into an instance of SCP-YING-2 from between 20 seconds to 50 seconds. The amount of transformative fluid seems to vary within each SCP-YING-1 collected, but the speed of the infected victim's transformation tends to accelerate when exposed to more of SCP-YING-1's fluid.
Instances of SCP-YING-2 bears an appearance similar to a bipedal hybridization of bird and rodent. They have elongated limbs, which enables them to stand between 0.9 to 1.2 meters, normally bearing a single tooth often used to shuck shellfish. The feet of SCP-YING-2 can function like another set of hands, but the shape of their bodies make it difficult to accomplish tasks requiring complex coordination, and their musculature and bone structure hinders any task requiring strength. If the tooth is damaged in any way, it can be replaced by the next tooth that grows in over time. However, it is because of this tooth, and somewhat because of their elongated snouts and tapered tongues, that makes it difficult or impossible for them to make the 'th' syllable in the any language vocabulary. They adapted to using 'd', 't', and 'z' syllables as an alternative. It is noted that the female instances of SCP-YING-2 bears smaller 'shelltooths' and a large tuft of hair on the end of their tails. Autopsies and biopsies revealed that their skeletal structure is somewhat hollow in nature and is capable of laying eggs, bearing some similarities to the raptorial design of birds. Analysis of their fluids also revealed a high concentration of toxins. They appear to be immune to these toxins, which seem to be naturally derived from the swamp and marsh plants known as ████████████, ██████████, and ███████. The females are capable of laying soft-shelled eggs, but the breeding processes of SCP-YING-2 are mostly unknown, even though the male SCP-YING-2 population often demonstrates recreational copulation through . The underground enclosure containing the SCP-YING-2 population appears to increase as time progresses. Younger iterations of SCP-YING-2 have been detected within the underground enclosure, which suggests that the methods of SCP-YING-2 reproduction results in a higher yield of offspring when compared to human procreation practices.
Instances of SCP-YING-2, and victims that have transformed into SCP-YING-2, have shown strong instinctual behavior to form a governmental body known as an 'enclave', led by a female SCP-YING-2. The SCP-YING-2 chosen by the SCP-YING-2 population is valued greatly among them, praising her as their leader. This SCP-YING-2 female leader calls herself Matriarch ████████, to which the staff has labeled her SCP-Ying-2-a. The 'patriarchs', the most notable SCP-YING-2 males that has proven to be most able to serve SCP-YING-2-1 and the enclave, are labeled SCP-YING-2-b, which serves as her lieutenants. Much of the SCP-YING-2 population usually displays skittish behavior, but can quickly turn to aggression when one or more members of their enclave government system is sufficiently threatened, or terminated. Males of the SCP-YING-2 population shows incredibly protective behavior of their female population, which is normally hidden away by their makeshift methods of construction within the underground enclosure. It is noted that the birth ratio of males to females is around 5:1 or 7:1. SCP-YING-1 can sometimes randomly change the gender of the victims transformed into SCP-YING-2, but further tests into finding the cause of the gender change is ongoing, and is restricted by permission of O5 command.
It has been reported that many of the victims that transformed into instances of SCP-YING-2 retain their human memories. They noted that the transition into SCP-YING-2 is both unsettling and disorientating. Shortly after transforming into instances of SCP-YING-2, the victims have shown moderate to quick adaptability into their new bodies, and slowly developed emerging SCP-YING-2 behavior over time, eventually becoming loyal to the SCP-YING-2 enclave governmental body.
Attempts have been made to reverse the transformation process that SCP-YING-1 causes. A request for the usage of SCP-500 upon one of the SCP-YING-2 transformed victims is still pending. Prolonged effects of being transformed in the SCP-YING-2 instance have been noticed. Notable symptoms include species dysphoria, slight memory loss, receiving approval from other SCP-YING-2 instances by displaying SCP-YING-2 behavior, and .
Addendum: The most serious cases of the SCP-YING-2 transformed victims seems to carry severely altered memories that doesn't coincide with their surroundings or recent history. Some interviews suggests that certain instances of SCP-YING-2 may have originated from a dimension that is completely different to our own. Despite the implications of an alternate reality being opened into our universe, no evidence has been discovered as to suggest a crossover between our reality and the reality of SCP-YING-2.
Interview log between Dr. █████ Thadderson and SCP-YING-2-a, approved by O5 command.
Notes: This interview log was recorded before special containment procedures were changed to include depopulation protocols of SCP-YING-2 underground enclosure. Further attempts to interview with SCP-YING-2-a again resulted in immediate aggression from SCP-YING-2 population within underground enclosure, becoming concerned and protective of SCP-YING-2-a's safety.
Dr. T: And... Here we are. *pauses for ten seconds* Please. Make yourself comfortable.
SCP-YING-2-a: I will get clams after zhis, yes?
Dr. T: If you are on your best behavior during the interview, then yes.
SCP-YING-2-a: Hmm... Okay. I do zhe interview.
Dr. T: Let me start this with a simple question. Can you tell me your human name? Do you remember your past in any way?
SCP-YING-2-a: *High-pitched giggling* What a silly question, zhat is! I already told you my name before. It's Matriarch ████████.
Dr. T: Let's uh... Let's change the subject. What are your earliest memories?
SCP-YING-2-a: Earliest memories? Ohh... Strange question, zhat one. Uh... *pauses for fifteen seconds* ... I suppose my earliest memory is when I was in zhe nursery wizh my brozhers, yes yes.
Dr. T: Mm-hm. Do you know the name of the region you were in at the time?
SCP-YING-2-a: Um... I zhink it was called... Zhe Green Reach. It place near Kalleg Darr Empire place, but not too close. We lived in comfy cave out of sight. We do scavenging when it dark, and when no one is around to disturb us, yes yes. Zhe freshwater mussels up zhe streams taste so so yum zhere~.
Dr. T: The uh... Green Reach, was it? Does it go by another name? Did any of the humans near your home named it differently?
SCP-YING-2-a: Uh... My enclave don't go near zhem very much, no no. Zhey don't like us near zhem, so we stay away. We only know place as Zhe Green Reach because ozher yinglets call it zhat.
Dr. T: *sigh* This is getting us nowhere. Um... How about you tell me how you got to █████████ beach?
SCP-YING-2-a: Oh, yes yes, I remember some of zhat! Let me remembers... Ummm... My patriarch ███ told me zhat zhere was a weird spiny zhing on zhe beach. Zhey zhrew rocks at it and zhought it was safe, and sent a yinglet to tell zhe enclave what zhey found. I was very very curious, so I went to beach to look at zhe spiny zhing. Sadly, when we walked zhrough, it kind of... zooped!
Dr. T: ... Zooped?
SCP-YING-2-a: Yes yes, it made zoop sound! And when it zooped, me and a small number of yinglets from my enclave got stuck here. At least you are nice foundy-man that is very nice enough to find more yinglets for my enclave! OH! Zhat reminds me! I wanted to invite you to storytell back in new enclave place you made for us! Patriarch ███ can storytell much to you, yes yes!
Dr. T: I'm afraid I can't do that. The site manager won't allow it.
SCP-YING-2-a: Oh, he a big meany! Oh wait. Is he a he or a she? I never met site manager person before.
Dr. T: I have some other questions I would like for you to answer.
SCP-YING-2-a: Oh, as much as I want to, I can't stay away too long from my enclave. My yinglets get very very worried if I'm gone too long. And I need my nap too. Want to join me for naps?
Dr. T: Uh... No thank you. We can continue this some other time.
End interview log.
Anyway, Yinglets belong to valsalia.
