I liked the beginning of it, but as it kept going it stopped being funny and the story was damn weak. I mean, all the main cast is OP af, I think that's what killed the anime. If they were too players fighting other too players then there would be some challenge, making things interesting. But all we got was a 16 year old kid trying g to hide his boner while role-playing on World of Warcraft. 4 out of 10 for me

I really love how detailed the characters are in the light novel.
Like what Edward said above, if the main character is too much OP, it can be really lame, but Overlord made it really unique on it's way of twisting the plots.
Since what it's showing is the irrational OP characters from another dimension From 'the perspective' of regular characters living in the current dimension.

Ainz basically has logics and reasons, but that doesn't really work for those native people.
Some dies and some lives with quite random reasons for themselves.
And the LN describes A LOT for those native people, probably more than for Ainz, to attach the readers more into them, and realize how Ainz's behavior looks like from their perspective.

Which is really unique with the writer's awesome skills, since Ainz's acts are not exactly different from many of the 'isekai' OP characters, which is EVIL and unreasonable for native people. And that's often described 'heroic' in many other media.

Actually she keeps him alive for quite a long time in the light novel, compare to other medias.
And the way she describes/enjoys swallowing people alive,
I'm sure the one who created her in the story is a vorarephile lol
It's not like just "Oh I love eating people."
It's more of a fetish to her lol

Actually I am not an huge isekai fan, because I dislike harems and that everyone sucks the male leads dick... I don't like them to be all powerful and stuff... But the main character of Overlord reminds me of like, dungeon keeper games. He get's a pass.

Happy that vore gets sold to unsuspecting readers like that. I hope it spawns new vore vans, too.

In real life, every single person has some sorta fetish, whether it's popular one or not.

I concur... but, very few translations from LN/WN to manga/anime are actually done right from the source material.
But finally, it's good to see you doing an Overlord piece... Overlord IS my favorite LN of all time XD

Yeah right!
Actually Overlord is the thing that made me into light novels.
I mean, into 'writings'?
Since I was more like an anime/manga only fan.
But nowadays I enjoy light novels more than visual media.

Except for Made in Abyss though lol
I watched/read both anime and manga, and I prefer the anime.
Since it's a really rare case of anime that has MORE scenes than the original manga xD

Woah Woah... hold on now, Made in Abyss is on a whole other level than your typical anime/manga. It came from a web manga (much like another good one, OPM) and when was adapted to anime, it took it way beyond what one would ever expect. The visuals are just simply stunning to say the least. It's the reason why I said in my previous statement "very few translations from LN/WN" as Made in Abyss is the antithesis of a bad adaption. I certainly agree with you that the anime should be the preferred method to watch <3

YEahhh it was quite alright.
Beside it was meant to be a 'promotion' for the light novel,
Still it was better than many other 'promotion' anime, compare to something like 'Wolf and Spice' anime series.

But I think it became an 'easy money' series since at some point of the second season.
Even the very reason what they decided to make the 2nd/3rd seasons is because they earned a LOT of money from the 1st season.
So it just doesn't make sense the other seasons are WORSE than the first promotion anime.

Also, if I watched Overlord 3rd season first,
I would never think of trying the original source lol
