Clinging onto the Thunderbird’s foot for her life, Lauren looked down, unaffected by vertigo.

She looked for a safe place to drop. The Thunderbird circled over La Zanja at a consistent height, leaving Lauren little margin for error.

Lauren awoke to find herself laying in a bed next to Nadalia. Nadalia’s arms were wrapped around Lauren’s naked frame.

her forehead. Nadalia slowly opened her eyes

and smiled at Lauren.






“Good morning,” said Lauren.

Lauren and her friends stood outside La Zanja’s East Physician’s Office. Lauren’s arms were crossed with anxiousness. Her foot tapped on the wooden boards of the building’s porch. Valentina was inside, being looked over by the physician.

Lauren had carried Valentina herself all the way to the office – on recommendation from the people working in the Center for Justice – after Valentina collapsed in front of them.

Once Rita had collected all of Lauren’s clothes, and Lauren and Nadalia had finished their hug, Rita handed Lauren her outfit, so that the farmer could redress.

Once Lauren was dressed, she grabbed her sack of belongings

. She dug out her guns and reholstered them in her belt.

Lauren pressed her right palm horizontally against her forehead. She stared at her own cervix, wondering what would happen if she attempted to leave through it. Rita took a few steps toward Lauren. She felt the sensation inside her again. Lauren bit her lip and put her left hand over her lower torso.






“St-stop moving,” she stammered.

Lauren strode into the front passenger car of the train. Before she made it all the way through the door, Melody called out, “Did you find any drinks?” but as Lauren entered the car proper, the others all stared blankly at her.






“Lauren, what happened to your bottoms?” asked Nadalia, doing her best not to blush.

In the morning, Lauren woke up to find Nadalia no longer in the bed. She remembered that the knight had wanted to see Nicholas off, so she waved away any worry. Lauren got dressed and left her room to find her friends or work at that early hour. As she strode by Minton’s bank, its front door opened, and Valentina walked out of it. She spotted Lauren, but did not seem concerned with approaching her. Lauren took the extra effort and walked towards the stern woman.

Lauren and her friends spent the next week helping people with various tasks around Minton. During that time, Sheriff Circe approached her again asking her if she was positive she would not take the deputy position, and Lauren told the sheriff that she was sure. Runner decided to stay in Minton for a short time and took up work at the same ranch as Betsy-Ann.
