This is post-apocalyptic setting so it's technically a future mutant fruit, haha.

What does the girl think she is

The plant did have to grow the fruit. It also had to sacrifice it for it's own nourishment. In that respect, the plant did pay for it's meal. It understands the balance of nature. Unfortunately for the girl... well, she's about to learn that lesson the hard way. :3

lolz
I wouldn't even try to take the fruit. I'd just hold it until I was swallowed.

The fruit is what triggers the trapping mechanism. (I'm also debating on whether or not the fruit entering the stomach and touching the liquid is what triggers the digestion... Imagine having to keep that thing above your head so you don't get melted...)

lol I get it. Only those that want the fruit would get eaten. Ha ha. Since I would not want the fruit, the plant is likely to just ignore me. (difference between myself and the girl is that I'm not unwilling)

I just love how surprised she is. Going from, "Oh this fruit looks juicy!" "Oh no, I'm juicy!"

The reason this is a "teaser" is because I have a bigger idea for this. She's actually searching for the fruit which is thought to be a myth. It's an obvious trap, but she lets her excitement get the better of her. So, that roller coaster of emotion is much more heightened than you may realize, haha!

Not explained or pictured, but... I kind of had the idea that the fruit is the catalyst that kick starts the digestive process. If it contacts the walls, the plant knows it caught some food and it begins the digestion process. So... a prey could technically survive as long as they mad sure not to drop the fruit and played a dangerous game of operation by not touching it to the sides.
