The party meets the most brilliant alchemist of his age. An age of horror and death, one that no longer deserves to be in this world and yet, so it is.

Welp. Sorry.

At least it was quick, like 'ripping-your-fingernail-off' quick

I'm not amazing at dramatic deaths.

Surely this is a gag where Cass will lazareth herself and save the gang, right? Right?

Martel's explanation on heaven and hell in the beginning makes me wonder if the gods have been idle during his capture or if they've been creating the 'perfect mousetrap' hell for if he ever escapes.

As for Cass... No words. Only sadness.

They've been up to something, but not that.

You know, I can’t help but feel that Cassandra (or what few remnants of her remained in that “abomination”) should’ve at least been able to get a last word out before her untimely demise. Don’t get me wrong: most readers capable of reading between the lines would’ve seen this coming a mile away, but that doesn’t mean her death should be ‘this’ uneventful.

If you ever get the time, please consider giving her soul reassertion for one last time, just so she can thank Velida for putting her down. Is that too much to ask for?

Mmm, not really in the sceme of maneuvers for this story unfortunately. If I were to rewrite the whole story, Cassandra would get a bit more screen time than she did, especially leading up to this chapter, as well as more character resolution from the others, but she wouldn't get any 'resurrection' or 'last words'. That's kind of the point. Something terrible happened because she made a mistake and now she's gone.
