Roy's team assumed his habit of chasing the ball and ignoring everything else would eventually see him plunge headlong into the ocean. In fact he ended up someplace a lot hotter and slimier.

Weirdly enough, this joke appeared in a Bugs Bunny cartoon I think it was, where a player said "I got it!" and was hit so hard by the baseball it buried him and a tombstone with "He got it" popped up.

I remember that one. Personally, I liked the joke where one guy got hit in the mouth, which squashed his cigar, and he landed next to a sign saying "does your tobacco taste different lately?"

(and yeah, I know that sign was based off real-life ads for a certain cigarette company, you don't have to tell me.)

Can't help but think him diving in an effort to dig the ball out would have worked better. That's when they throw themselves forward with hands together in fists to bump the ball back up and towards the net.

He'd have literally dived down the sealion's throat if the positions had been suitable.

But then we wouldn’t have the ball and his hands in the sea lion’s mouth as we saw in the other pic. 83

This is true. But I think it would be a good picture to show an opportunist Sea Lion lurking behind a dune, and when an overeager ball player tries to go long to dig out a ball, he rears up, opens wide, and all you see is a pair of feet disappearing down his gullet.

Or, if it's a lady player. Her feet and legs kicking in the air as he rears up to let her do the long slide.

I could see drawing that. Something like the things that happen in the Slide By The Sea series. 83
