Spinel survived because Steven sees her as someone who will help him with whatever he needs done. Plus she be good at helping keeping potential meals from running away since she can stretch her limbs. Same with Lion, his ability to create portals could stop escaping meals, if Lion feels like it. And Cat Steven just too cute
