Hi everyone. This is an announcement that I've recently been working on a vore game in Rpgmaker.

Pacha's Quest is a story-driven vore rpg primarily featuring demi-human characters, with a few anthros and miscellaneous other creatures thrown in as well. It is a fairly ambitious project and is still a long way from being finished, however I've set up a patreon account to help get the funds to work on this further.

The game follows Pacha, a female demi-human stoat, and the friends and allies she meets (or eats) as she tries to protect her village from an unknown threat. It contains mostly oral vore with a few soul vore scenes and fatal digestion, has both male and female character as both predators and prey as well as both male and female nudity. Pacha is primarily a predator but can end up as prey to a variety of different enemies. More content is available in the patreon version than the free version although neither are finished yet, and more content will be added as soon as it is ready. As this is the first release, there might also be a few bugs I still haven't found. I'd recommend saving frequently in case of any crashes and, if you find anything in either version that doesn't work or causes problems, please message me and I'll try to get it fixed as soon as possible. Have fun and I hope you the start of this weird little story.

Ohh I'm very interested in this BUT I'm going to withhold any comments for two reasons:
1. I can't run the software due to platform reasons. RPGMaker games sometimes work in WINE but it usually fails.
2. WIPs, particularly games, have an established history of breaking my heart. I'm also afraid that the feedback (or worse, requests) I give on incomplete works will influence the project for the worse, in that it takes it away from what the designer wanted to do as a creative effort.
I wish you the very best in this, though. Ooh, just look at those species tags. MMM that's fine cast you got going on in there.

Yeah. I’m sorry about that. I really want to make games that reliably work in Linux, (particularly given how much of a pain Windows has been during this) but rpgmaker is just too much of an appealing tool compared to trying to make a game from scratch.

ObsidianSnake

Posted by ObsidianSnake 1 year ago Report

Yeah, and I'm not going to point you at a toolset that you're not comfortable working at for marginal use cases. Best to stick to what makes a sound flow of work. Learning to use something like Unity is a venture and a project in itself!

BizzareBlue

Posted by BizzareBlue 1 year ago Report

Yeah, I might have to look into learning Unity after I finish this project.

Same pain here. Half of them work for me, but others either crash or get stuck on a black screen. Just yesterday I tried one and even the installer wouldn't start up. This is RPG Maker and / or WINE's own fault, but sadly it's a popular tool and many RPG creators have to stick with it.

BizzareBlue

Posted by BizzareBlue 1 year ago Report

Yep. I guess the only thing that can be done about that is to hope that more companies start to realize how many linux users there are and start creating linux compatible versions of stuff like rpgmaker … which is probably a bit of a hypocritical thing for me to be hoping for after giving in and making a game that only works on windows.

Played a good couple hours of it tonight, and it's great! I might start over and do it...slightly faster, and without getting the cardinal directions messed up in my head, make some different choices. Lost a party member to my early decisions and we can't have that!

Bug report: on the necromancer's side-quest, I got one of those "image not found" crashes when trying to interact with a coffin for a second time.

Got one bug, and one possible sequence break!

I used the Bite ability against the shadowy figure in the rabbit town house with the key and got a syntax error regarding the math involved.

I was able to get ahead of our ranger friend in the forest, having been there before, and killed the frog queen without her even having eaten him; going back led to the ranger (starting from the beginning of the map) getting caught again, only no frog queen left to fight. Just gone, as far as I could tell.

BizzareBlue

Okay, I’ve fixed the coffins and hopefully the bite attack. I might have to think a while about how to fix the sequence break though as that is something that I simply had not considered happening. Thanks for spotting it and the other errors though.

On my second run through I was following him preeeetty closely. Knew where he was going after all. I think I changed maps before the trigger set.

In any case, that was a lot of fun! I really enjoyed playing it through both times. Still have NO idea how the temple doors work, but I really appreciated the extra level of detail of being able to get descriptions of the people of Rabbiton after successfully calming Breakfast down.

BizzareBlue

Posted by BizzareBlue 1 year ago Report

Yeah. I will have to work out how to fix that, but I have some ideas. And yeah, the temple doors are supposed to be pretty tricky to get through.

Ooooh I'm definitely VERY excited for this and look forward to play this game :3<3

BizzareBlue

Posted by BizzareBlue 1 year ago Report

Well, it’s basically the same as the version you’ve been playtesting for me so don’t get too excited.

This is looking awesome! I love that there are different dialogues and consequences depend on who you eat/don't eat/let eaten.

I did found a bug tho, eating the squirrel in the forest will cause an error saying 'Unable to find file: Graphics/Characters/PachaWalk'.

BizzareBlue

Posted by BizzareBlue 1 year ago Report

Ooops. That should be fixed that now. Thanks for spotting that.

Hey Blue! Heh, why didn't you tell me you were working on something cool like this!

Knowing you're working on this, I'm supporting, right off the bat. That said...I'm kinda hesitant to actually play it? I mean, I really want to! But when it comes to story based games like this, I kinda don't like diving into a story and getting invested and then hitting the wall where the present content ends.

Though, if you wanted me to help proofread or bugtest, that would be a different story.

Either way, it's really rare for me to see a project in progress and want to immediately support it. As in, I've only ever done it once before. So, I hope that shows how excited I am for this!

BizzareBlue

Posted by BizzareBlue 1 year ago Report

Hi Arta. I should have mentioned it but, for a while, I was stuck on several problems learning how rpgmaker works and wasn’t sure if I’d be able to make the game work the way I wanted. I definitely know what you mean about not wanting to get invested in an unfinished story and unfortunately it’s likely going to be a while before this reaches its end as I have a lot of content planned and there are quite a lot of branches that the game can go down.

I’m really flattered by how much interest there has already been in this and that you and others are already supporting my patreon. Thank you so much for that, and if you are interested in helping with the play testing, I’d be happy to send you the unpolished (and bug-filled) update once I’ve added some more new content.

It was really fun, it is both nerve-wracking and interesting that... you can have so many characters. After a certain, character seems to become amazingly powerful as I kinda expected, I start to wonder if other other eaten characters would be as amazing... oh how tricky it is to figure out what to do... is it even possible to get all the party members or do you need to decide if some are... uh, to be traded in for an upgrade? I look forward to more, although... I think I found one little bug. When I returned from the forest to the, sugarglider? I picked the noncommittal option for my intentions towards the rabbit village and the game crashed on the error message, something to do with Martin face missing, so, guessing he was intended to make a face it couldn't find ^^; it worked when I reloaded and chose the, bunnies for breakfast option...

BizzareBlue

Posted by BizzareBlue 1 year ago Report

Ooops, yeah, I found what’s causing that and it should be fixed now. Sorry about that. I changed the name of the character’s faces to keep them in a better order but then had to go through changing every different reference to them and for a while after that kept finding ones I’d missed, usually deep in the middle of conversations with large numbers of branches or conditionals. Hopefully that will be the last one though.

As for the characters, yeah, I think I can guess which one is the overpowered one, but I tried to give them all skill sets that could be pretty useful in different ways. Still, some of them are definitely more powerful than others. Also, it’s never a hard requirement to sacrifice a character in order to recruit one of the others, although it is currently a little tricky to get both Sichi and Vir in the party at once. On the other hand, Pacha can only have three of them following her at once, so after recruiting three characters, any others who join only provide an advantage by letting you swap them into the party if you think their skills will be more useful or they might have something interesting to say about the next part.

DrakeZephyr

Posted by DrakeZephyr 1 year ago Report

Good to know. I imagine next update I'll be trying to get those two both in the party whatever it takes, heh… Vir is a powerhouse, but learnt the hard way how tricky it can be to get through the woods without a healer... that said in some ways it's an interesting conundrum of... who is expendable as a meal to get another character ^^;

BizzareBlue

Posted by BizzareBlue 1 year ago Report

Yeah, Sichi is definitely more useful in the parts of the game that are currently available, but Vir may get to make up for that in the area I’m working on now.

DrakeZephyr

Posted by DrakeZephyr 1 year ago Report

I'd say Vir was invaluable for the sheer dps… although funnily enough I did end up having to do nearly the entire forest with only a bunny and then a bunny and a squirrel because the masterful preds got KOed… speaking of which, I noticed, and I don't know if it's intentional, but when our Heroic(?) stoat is knocked out, the plants get stuck in a loop of trying to pick her up, giving up, then trying again

BizzareBlue

Posted by BizzareBlue 1 year ago Report

Heh, that will teach those two to get overconfident. And I’ve tweaked the plant’s behavior so they should be able to eat Pacha now even if she is unconscious.

DrakeZephyr

In all seriousness, I adore this game. I've played it every night since I first saw it.. keep finding new dialogue. I admire just how much effort you put in to cover the different things people will think of... Only thing I found myself wishing for was... when they digest their prey overnight, the one time there was an, aftereffect dialogue that was, interesting... I'd be curious to see more of those if it wasn't too difficult...
I have to say, I'm going to have to start supporting you to get a bit more of it ^^ and maybe pick your brain sometime on how you wrestled that system to do some of the things you did. I half gave up on my own projects because I couldn't fathom how to get my games to do what I envisioned...

BizzareBlue

Posted by BizzareBlue 1 year ago Report

Awesome, I'm really glad to hear that, and yeah, there is quite a lot of dialogue that can only be uncovered in pretty specific situations. Putting in some more dialogue for Pacha digesting her prey sounds good. I initially decided that wouldn't be possible as Pacha can eat so many people at once, but now I think I've got a system for that and will try to have it ready for the next major update.

Also, is there anything in particular that you wanted to know how it works? I did notice that the documentation on the underlying code for rpgmaker is somewhat lacking and I got very frustrated trying to work out how certain things worked and how to modify them. If there is anything I could help with in your games, I'd be happy to do so.

DrakeZephyr

Posted by DrakeZephyr 1 year ago Report

It feels so long, I'd need to get working on them again to remember the specific problems... but yes, I wrestled, a lot to try and make it do what I wanted... as an aside, I was playing the Patreon version, and hit on the strangest bug... every time I had the party sleep, the game crashed. It, might have been to do with Vir... since I didn't have a save to test before acquiring him, though I'm just assuming it had something to do with the digestion... I couldn't make much sense of the error message, something about, classnull. Kept up for the whole playthrough... although when, the story briefly had pacha alone, I had her sleep and no crash.

BizzareBlue

Posted by BizzareBlue 1 year ago Report

Yeah, I think I know what was causing that and it should be fixed by now. I updated the game so that the berry bushes occasionally reset when you go to sleep, but messed it up and made it crash every time it tried to do that. If it worked when Pacha was alone it was probably just random chance that it didn't try to reset any of the bushes that time. Still, it should be fixed in the current version. Sorry about that. That was a pretty major bug that slipped through.

Posted by chefjellyguy 1 year ago Report

Really liking the game so far! especially getting to make the bunny boy a pred. speaking of, instead of being the only one that can equip the dryad staff, he is actually the only one that can't. i think thats a bug.

in any case, you need to post this over on the vore games form, as it wont get the attention it deserves if its only posted here

BizzareBlue

Posted by BizzareBlue 1 year ago Report

Yep, that was definitely a bug, thanks for letting me know. I’ve found what I think was causing that to happen and changed it so hopefully it will be working properly now. And that’s a very good point. I’ll definitely copy this onto the forum as well as well.

This game is really good! Do you get anything from choosing to devour enemies, other than the satisfaction of doing so?

BizzareBlue

Posted by BizzareBlue 1 year ago Report

Yep. An instant boost to will power, a small xp boost for the one who devoured them that gets applied the next time you go to sleep, as well as a chance to regurgitate items when you wake up (although right now that is pretty small, I might increase it later).

Chickenpie

Posted by Chickenpie 1 year ago Report

Thanks. As I played a bit more, I found out the xp thing, never noticed the will boost though.
One other thing, is there a way to devour a party member other than during the 'scripted' scenes? (If there isn't, I was thinking bringing a character to the bed or the pantry might be a good way)
You've done a really good job with this, I'm very impressed. There is so much that can happen depending on who you've eaten, and different lines for who is with you, it is amazing. Have you considered a sort of 'scene list' so we know we've found everything?
Sorry for the huge wall of text, you are one of my favourite writers and even then, you've outdone yourself. Most of your stuff is like a 10/10 but this is 11/10

The ability to eat your already recruited allies (or to feed them to each other) is something that I'm planning to add at some point although I haven't quite worked out how it would work yet and it might be a while until it actually gets included.

Also, glad you are enjoying it so far and hopefully there will be some more content out soon.

Can I still eat party members after sparing them the first time?

BizzareBlue

Posted by BizzareBlue 1 year ago Report

Not yet (other than at a specific point that isn't currently reachable in the free version) but I am planning to add that at some point, although I still haven't worked out exactly how it will work.

ShinjiIkari

Posted by ShinjiIkari 1 year ago Report

Good! I'm through now with a run in which I spared everyone. Because I like to wait until they trust me and then kill them off in a particular cruel spot. That worked perfectly with the surviving caravan member! Delightfully evil. Unfortunately I didn't have squirrel in my party at that time...
And I didn't find a later good spot to kill them but it's fine.
I feel your game opens up a lot of possibilities for the JUICIEST betrayal things that one could do. I'd like to kill the bunny after I made him apologise to me for allowing me to eat his city~
Or maybe tell him if he gets eaten, then I'll spare his girlfriend (but it's a lie, I'll just bring his family home onto the tavern cage and everytime we visit it, one member is missing).
Or the mousey immediately after I learned my first heal spell! Like, "uhu thanks for teaching me that, now get in. It's, to, uh, increase my magical skill after you're done." Next morning: no magical skill increased. Whelp.

Ok I got carried away. Anyways, I enjoyed the game even if it is a little short.

BizzareBlue

Posted by BizzareBlue 1 year ago Report

Hehe, yes. There should be plenty of chances to kill Martin off in entertaining ways ... although while trying to avoid spoiling anything, things might not go exactly the way Pacha plans once she actually gets to the rabbit village.

Also, while it's not currently working, I am planning to have Pacha gain some healing magic if she choses to eat Sichi right at the start (partly just because otherwise giving up all access to early game healing spells is a pretty big sacrifice to make).

ShinjiIkari

Posted by ShinjiIkari 1 year ago Report

I'm not a furry but your Pacha made me... Research her race. Good job~
Hoping for the next Version soon. Does the prey collar do anything? I love treating them like friends but have them branded as food.

BizzareBlue

Posted by BizzareBlue 1 year ago Report

Yeah, I picked stoats at least in part due to their war dance to mesmerize their prey ability fitting very well with the mechanics I wanted for this game.

The prey collar does have a few affects, allowing the prey to be traded away in a few scenes and altering the way a certain conversation goes, however all those scenes are currently in the patreon version. More stuff relating to those collars will turn up eventually though.

Blue??? Did you forget to renew your dropbox account.? The links here and at Vored Alive do not go to any Downloads.
Renewing the account all the time is one reason I don't use them to save my files on.(the only problem I have had with them.)

Yeah, it does seem very tempermental. I've added a mediafire link as well now, which hopefully should solve that.
