So, it's a specific mode: "death" is an occurrence. Being hit by a bus results in death, heart attacks can make with the death, etc.
"Snuff" is specifically murder in a sexual sense. Someone is murdering someone else so one, both, or a third party can get off to it.

Afaik, usually only in the sense of a snuff film (like was depicted in this story) might it be be sexual. In general it just means to be put out suddenly, usually in the context of either a life or a flame.

Snuff also means a tobacco product that is inhaled nasally to produce a sharp sneeze. Context, hun, we are talking about the kink/fetish definition in the sense it is used within this sphere of influence.
