They had Nightmare Moon be made a totally seperate entity from Luna, with a bunch of Nightmare rabbits and other moon-creatures reviving her through Rarity, and then summoning the "magic of friendship" to get rid of her gave Luna her more mature look. That's it in a nutshell...

Celestia's private reserve sounds very suspicious for a shampoo brand.

While it's already been said, I do dig this being the reason for Luna's dramatic manestyle change, heh! Eating others definitely helped her height too.

Bah! Don't be a soilsport Tia! Let Luna have her fun! And besides, this way they won't be a bother anymore right? So you should be congratulating Luna instead of admonishing her. Altough she COULD have gone to a more private place but, oh well! Nothing that can be done about that now! ^-^
