I don't know if it was intentional or not but it took rereading this part (mainly the little blurb spelling out the main characters name) to find out the protagonist is a girl.

If it'll be explained later sorry for jumping the gun, but why would the de facto capital of the world be situated so close to a being that who's default interaction with people is to gobble them up? One visit could see most of the world's vital leaders turned into nutrients in her stomach?

For that matter does she expel waste or is a once it goes down her throat its never seen again kinda deal?

Final question and I know its a spoiler but what the hay. Is Queen Becky smarter than she acts, and only appears to be silent predator for some reason?

Keep up the good work!

Re: June as a girl - I thought it worth not making explicit until it came up naturally in the story. Ambiguity is an ongoing theme.

Re: the Embassy Complex being just outside the Wall - let me know if you still have that question at the end of the story.

Re: waste - I'm not sure that's been canonically answered. My feeling is that there isn't, but I might lean a little more toward the "Queen Becky is mystical" camp than her actual creator.

Re: your final question - Same as the second; let me know if you still have that question at the end! :)

Where can I find the Creator's info on the character?

If  XDDX replies, you can ask her. :)

I sense a containment breach is about to occur. How man could Queen Becky nom if it did occur?

4ofSwords

Time and interest are really the only limiters!

So even a billion people could be gulped down without Becky having to stop for a bit because she can't swallow another person?

4ofSwords

Potentially. There's an intersection of what could happen and what would happen where it would be definitively possible to say that she'd eaten more people than her stomach could possibly contain. It wouldn't really be practical to put that number at a billion, but it's a bit like asking, "Can God make a burrito so big that even he'd be stuffed afterward?"

Donotlike13

Posted by Donotlike13 1 year ago Report

Alright if its not mentioned later then what's Becky's record number of people eaten in a single sitting?

Has there ever been a recorded instance where Becky has said she is stuffed or has she always indicated she's still hungry?

That burrito quote, did you make that up on the spot?

Her record isn't established anywhere. In modern history, it's probably somewhere between 40 and 100 in one day. In the past, probably several thousands over the course of a few weeks, but that's not necessarily canon. It's not really the kind of things we flesh out.

I don't think we've ever established a time she was full, only done.

And yes, I made up that quote, but it's a variation on the popular 'Could God make a rock so big he couldn't lift it?'

Done in the sense of being tired of City A's flavor of people and going to City B to try out the locals?

I thought it was a version of the quote!

Done for the moment. Would rather go soak in the lake or lay in the grass or snooze for awhile.

Donotlike13

So even Queen Becky can get bored with her favorite activity?

Oh, sure. Everything gets boring sometimes.

An amazing expansion on the powerful opening!

So much stellar human interactions and internal turmoil here, especially with the infiltrator intrigue! The socially-aware nerdy notes showed up had more room to properly chime up in June's voice, and the tipsy team building session was pure delight, the "bad guesses" running bit was really neat. And the candid conversation with Evangeline at the end -- the story's flower unfurls its petal with violent energy, but never skipping the right steps!

It was a really suspenseful peril scene, the anticipation and the urgency there were tangible even though it was ostensibly a peaceful kiddie pool venture. June's personal moment observing the the footprint while bonding with Eva was masterfully done, and the flowing field description were beautiful.

Loved how much noises and smells were used in this chapter, especially the freshness of the air and Queen Becky's footfalls. Loved likewise how aware the characters were of appearances and their privacy!

And so much worldbuilding and politics and environmental mapping was happing alongside the main story, with a brief historical insight, too! Amazingly compact writing, taking notes feverishly! And sorry if that kind of praise sounds condescending or demeaning for a massive pro like yourself, I merely want to indicate that all those individual bits have been noted and appreciated! As for the overall symphony feel of it, it is very enjoyable and the rapid immersion into this world has made me feel heady in a good way, but then I don't remember having read anything by you that failed to entertain and thrill.

The one type I've found: "the can't be too close to the Wall". It's one of those really annoying "typoed-into-a-recognized-word" stealthy ones.

Thanks! Hopefully I have that typo fixed now. I'm really glad the peril of it came through and didn't feel forced into the scene!

Eva is the sum of ever good extrovert manager I've ever had, though I think I could have just as easily traced the exact opposite of my own personality.

Next chapter is probably peak exposition, so we'll see how well it stays braided into the story or whether it overstays its welcome.

So it's been coming along finely integrated so far, although personally I could enjoy raw worldbuilding of this level even disentangled from all the flavorful storytelling.

And it is great to find yourself at the mercy of a competent, driven organizer who will not stop until every one of their charges is in their own way involved, synergized and having fun contributing to the process, as opposed to leaving a third of the group idling or stewing in resentment.

Alright, I'm hooked!! And not just as a piece of erotica. (although, yes, there's plenty of erotic tension building) But with all this setup, I'm legit excited to see where the story goes! Sometimes longer stories can be so much more rewarding when the payoff comes. <3<3<3

I'm much more invested in June's party than I expected, and the whole setup of the place is really charming. I find myself comparing my own corporate workplace experiences with the Reserve--their recruitment and training and facilities. It's fun! I'm excited for the rest
