This is an animated story .gif I made, which is a very personal project, about love and loss.
I wanted to make it, and am showing it to the world, for anybody else out there who has suffered or is currently enduring the pain of losing someone they loved dearly, and how I learned to cope with it, in case it helps bring anybody else some much-needed peace, especially during these hard times.
Art by Me
Dedicated in loving memory to my Aunt, Mom, and Grandpa, as well as everyone who has lost their lives during the pandemic, and wars, worldwide. And also to anybody who sees this, to their loved one(s) they have lost.

man this so beautiful, reminded me of both of my grandpa and my grandma. i feel like they're lucky to be old and dying because of being called by God, not of illness or uncurable pain. They don't have to go through what we're currently suffering in this pandemic. And since every of their kid and grandchildren kept looking for them since they're still here, it's now their turn again to looking for us. I believe they're still protecting every of their precious family. don't know if they would reincarnate, but i hope every of them will have more happy life once they reincarnated. my grandparents, and your family.

It brought me further closure, help along the way so to speak. For me it rains right now, and i am starting to accept it slowly but surely. But right now it hurts to much to be able to dance in it.
But i am getting there, but more importantly, you have helped me getting there <3

I try to hide my emotions, usually.
So I'm sure my beard will hide my tears, sooner or later.
I feel your losses and I'm thankful that you took your time to offer us this.
It was wonderfully done, and it pleased my usually strong will.
Thank you for it, and let's be ready to dance under this rain.

Wow, I feel this needs to be a turned into a children's book, or at least, a youtube video that is geared towards all ages.
I can feel that as I have had my share of lost loved ones in recent years as well.
Not gonna lie, got my tearing up.

This was truly touching. I'm all choked up right now, and I don't know what to say except this:
"Time can break you down, time can bend your knees.
Time can break your heart, leave you begging please.
But beyond the door, there's peace I'm sure.
And I'm sure there will be no more tears in Heaven."
~Eric Clapton, from "Tears in Heaven"
Ah, now I'm crying... May The Lord bless each and every one of your souls!

This was very nice, well done! My grandmother died in 2014... it was sudden and unexpected which made it all the more weird. Something similar followed in 2016 which was worse for me, won't get into the details here. My grandfather followed in 2017 but I was never that close to him so I didn't dwell on it.
For me there are certain things I don't plan to move past: I will forever hold them against the world... a world I think should have never been allowed to exist in the first place. Your way is better in many cases though, for those who wish to go this route.
And remember you'll likely see them again after this parody of an existence is over, especially if you wish to enough. Not that I have clear proof of it that I can share obviously, but I sure as heck know it and that no one can stop us if we aren't.

I'd never thought I'd see something so beautify and heart warming on this site out of all places, but I'm glad I did.
This yeah easily has been the worst for me and so many other people; the rain is heavier than ever before, but we can't let that stop us now. We've come too far to give up now, I know for a fact Mum would keep pushing me to keep going. And when the rain clears, we will become stronger people by the end of it.
Thankyou for sharing this <3

Yes, I chose my username because in remembering death, we need to remember how very important our life is, and to cherish what time we've been blessed with to make the most of it. :)

When I was extremely young, like two or even ONE, I had to attend a funeral, although I don’t really remember anything about it, besides the fact that we went there. And later one of our pet cats at the time had to be “given mercy”, again I barely remember anything about him, I was very young and he was an old cat. But I’m pretty sure that my first major loss of innocence was 911 after learning what happened and having one of the only functional channels on TV only showing more and more about the most famous terrorist attacks on US soil may not have shattered my innocence, but it ground away at it. I learned that a little under 3,000 people (if you want precise numbers than exactly 2,996 people) were killed, all because of one man. No one we knew died in the attacks, but when going to preschool we could see NYC and the WTC in the distance. The attack showed us that there were EVIL human beings in the world more than just being told about their existence, like dad telling us about a certain dictator from Germany.
Some time after that fateful day, my dad was laid off by coincidence, and got a job in California, we moved out there and have been living there ever since.
When mom told me that Bin Laden was put down I believe I said either “Good riddance to bad rubbish”, “Good riddance” or “Good F**king riddance” (self bleeping out the swear).
One of the most recent deaths in the family was my mom’s stepdad, he died this year. And I knew him pretty well. He really liked aviation, particularly old propeller-driven aircraft, like WW2 fighters, and actually wished they could shoot down modern jet fighters (he never really liked them). Now, I just hope that he’s up there with the best pilots to ever fly a plane, and making his dream actually happen.
So I’m not unfamiliar with losing family members. And it always hurts, but eventually it scars over.

Thank you. For sharing this, for holding on, for all you do...
it's hard, but it's true. If we spend all our time waiting for the rain to stop...all that will happen is life will pass us by as we stare out the window.
I miss mom. But every so often I think of these words ... "How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard"

This is something both tragic and beautiful. I know bringing all of this up wasn't easy for you to do, and I'm sorry for you losses.
We spend our entire lives with our loved ones, and even when we do learn about the limitations of mortality, we still do act as though they'll always be there. Even if we don't mean to. It's why this is so difficult and painful to endure.
But... I believe what you say is true, and it is something I felt even when I lost some close to me too. The love you share with your loved ones is everlasting, and is always worth cherishing.
This memorial piece you did... it brought me to tears. Both when I saw it yesterday, and when I saw it again today. But it was also comforting. I know what you were trying to communicate here, and I really do appreciate it. Thank you for posting this.

Yes, I am really secretive normally so I did feel uncomfortable talking about my past like this, but, I felt like it was worth it, if it would bring people some peace. <3 :(

For someone like myself, who is fortunate enough to not have experienced loss outside of childhood pets, it's hard to imagine such grief that I will surely feel someday. I think your story is wonderfully uplifting and incredibly brave. Dancing through the rain is easier with others, after all.

I got goose bumps while reading this and it took me back to the time, when I felt the same. On Friday the 14.05.2010 I lost my grandfather I was 11 back then and it was a quiet painfull time but because of that I grew up a little bit more I was thinking about this loss very often back than and I learnd that this will always happen again and that you shouldn't let yourself get draged down by it but rather accept that everything will end sooner or later and I'm glad I learnd about this so early. And I want to thank you for brining back those memories about my grandfather back then when he was still alive. It was a good time and I hope I will also become a good grandfather someday and wach my children and grandchildren grow up. ^^

Truly a wonderfully well crafted little story and animation.
