The Queen of the Big Screen By ItsSongxing -- Report

Mojie is a vast planet, of vaster riches. Despite being rocky, it is larger than Saturn, and despite this, its gravity is comparable to Earth's. Even the most brilliant minds in Mojie are only able to speculate what strange force allows Mojie alone these properties; but before any theories of planetary habitability had developed, the people who had visited this planet cared only for the overwhelming abundance of resources they could provide.

The earliest of peoples to first tread on the planet's soil, long before even Rosemonde chose it as the center of their Imperium, were the Tebelians. Resembling anthropomorphic cat-people with avian wings, they hail from the planet we call Luyten b, and might reasonably be called Luytenians; though in their tongue, they call their home planet Tebel, after an old fertility god. Tebel is a planet hotter than Earth and with less abundant water, so the Tebelians had condensed much more strongly to their habitable rivers. In such a harsh environment, cooperation and coordination were of the utmost importance. Though a sapient species had evolved on Tebel after it had done the same on Earth, agriculture and civilization had started much earlier; a writing system is known to have been present on Tebel since 10,000 BCE.

Circa 5000 BCE, a Tebelian merchant's vehicle had broken down on a trip to the capital. Though he had sent out a distress signal, it would still be days before help could reasonably arrive. He took shelter in a cave nearby, away from the harsh sun...

...And when help had arrived, they saw Kashta the Discoverer emerging from the cave, holding a pile of grass, with brown, moist dirt clinging to it, miles deep into the desert with no oasis in sight.

What followed was a movement that made the Gold Rush of '49 seem like a morning commute.

Tebelians flooded into a land that was rich with fertile soil, mining resources aplenty, and so many trees! Towns sprang up, roads were built, and planes and people alike flew. It was a spree unlike any other; a whole planet, uninhabited by any other sapient species, just ripe for the taking!

However, such rapid expansion had put a strain on the Tebelians' social fabric. Debates started over the legal status of the native Tebelians, and the colonists. Many even thought that to expand so far beyond the one link between Tebel and Mojie would strain their relationships with the gods; others felt that such bountiful land, all for them, was the gods rewarding them after such a long time on Tebel itself. Differences compounded into proper factions, which then split apart to become different countries. Technological advancement slowed...

The arrival of the Furless Ones was the beginning of the end of Tebelian independence. First was the golden-winged one, fancying herself a goddess of war and love, some two thousand years ago; following shortly after was the blue-winged one, fancing themselves the maker of all. The golden-winged one took the more diplomatic approach of trying to convert people to her religion, through miracles and other demonstrations of her greatness.

The blue-winged one was simpler: Surrender peacefully, or surrender after a fight.

By the time of the Unification Wars, even their advanced technology held little against the blue-winged one's overwhelming force. When the Crimson Fangs, Black Bull, and Red-Blue Dragon joined together, it seemed there was not a force on Tebel, or Mojie, or anywhere, that could stand up to them. Even the golden-winged one's great magic crumbled before their might...Or so it seemed.

The things the golden-winged one brought over defy description almost by design. Shapeshifters and builders, superweapons in the truest sense of the word...And each one was also a soldier and strategist in their own right.

Even the Red-Blue Dragon could only kill one or two before being routed. No other could come close. Thus, an uneasy peace treaty formed...And the Tebelians, the most prominent of the peoples who lived in both empires, were compelled to moderate.

Even today, Mojie stands divided into two states. Much of the supercontinent is controlled by Rosemonde's Imperium. The other state, occupying a comparatively small amount of land compared to the Imperium, though still more than enough to dwarf the whole of Afro-Eurasia, is Agade. Many Tebelian settlements persist throughout modern-day Byakko and Agade, with Beatrice von Teutoberg advocating for all provinces with a Tebelian majority, at the time of signing, a particularly strong autonomy; something which the Tebelians themselves, overseeing the treaty, refused to let it be signed without.

The scorn on Rosemonde's face was delicious, they say.

Isetnofret Meritamen is, of course, a Tebelian. Born to one of the cities nearest to the Mojie-Tebel portal, Isetnofret entered the industry some time in her late teens, scoring the role of a side-character for an episode of a then-popular sitcom. However, she truly hit top-billing status for her performance as the Angel of Death in the macabre musical film, Everything at the Edge of Eternity.

Everything at the Edge of Eternity was originally a play written some time in the late 1930s, by an anonymous Satojin empath whose soulmate had passed on before them. Considered one of the great works of Satojin literature, it is a visceral depiction of the mental and physical anguish that loss can bring, represented in agonizing detail via the deteriorating appearance and emotional state of the main character, known only as Saraba-san in the play. The Angel of Death is a recurring character, no physical description or gender given, only that the actor or actress has a voice "hauntingly beautiful"; the character is notably separate from other depictions of Death, for they mourn their impotence at the end of each act, the inability to release Saraba-san from the cruel jaws of Life.

The film adaptation was the final work of the Satojin director Kokuta Ken'ichi, himself regarded as one of the greatest filmmakers of all time among Mojie's denizens, with his renown being most comparable to that of Akira Kurosawa. Everything at the Edge of Eternity is considered by many to have been his magnum opus, and Isetnofret's breakout performance is a strong reason why.

Here, we see the bewitching Isetnofret in her usual attire. She still lives in Byakko to this day, and the hot climate of that region (and the lack of a need to protect oneself from the Sun, on account of her fur) leads her to wearing clothes that maximize breathability. In this case, she wears a body-hugging net-patterned underdress, accented by linens so fine that one can see right through them, pinned in place by a necklace styled after an Egyptian hawk. It's not exactly modest, but then, have celebrities ever been?

******

I got this as a commission from Rondonu on FurAffinity! I wanted to get her at least some clothes, since just going around naked is kind of boring, and I wanted something a bit more strongly Egyptian-inspired than just "white clothes with yellow and blue jewelry", so I did a bit of research into Egyptian fashion to get something that was a bit more unique. I won't say it's 100% historically accurate, since she doesn't wear a wig and her linens are probably finer than anything an ancient Egyptian could have made, but, hey, it's a bit more inspired than taking the first Google Image result of "Egyptian lady halloween costume" that shows a little skin.

And goddamn, what a glow-up she got! Her original design was already really good, but this is probably the first time that my jaw dropped at a commission I've gotten! She's just...She's just so pretty!

No-linen version here.
