So I know, something different right? I didn't used to be confident about the idea of drawing scat but slowly got into the idea after someone suggested it and the idea slowly took hold and grew in my mind. Specifically in this case, prey shaped scat. I do not think he meant his words as an offense. You see, he spoke of "standards of good taste" being, he might actually mean "good taste" in a litteral sense...
On top of that the commenter did not specify into which direction this artistic work dances past the standards. You interpretated it as a "not dancing close enough towards such standards", but it is more likely he meant "outdancing all standards, thus surpassing them."
Keep in mind, he explicitly said, he loves artists dacing past standards and said, this work needs an award. Thats not what one would call passive agressiveness.
