I’m kind of seeing a parallel to Vlad and Fris with Erik and Riktor here, if Vlad was still alive and this information came out I have a feeling that Vlad would be honest, we saw how he risked his life on the line and saved his men while Erik seems to be the opposite, we saw this in a flashback when the two brothers fought, despite Erik being stronger he lost to Vlad.

Vlad understood what it took and that he had to think from all angles while it looks like Erik fought straight on and doesn’t think on what to do afterwards, not thinking on what will happen if he's in a position where he can’t defend himself or his men.

That’s not to say Vlad's perfect, he got killed, I like characters that have flaws but it’s to see if they'll become strong like steel or snap like a twig...

Rereading this I’m wondering how human's trained alchemists in this world?
