In the Eye of the Beholder By LivesInAStomach -- Report

Elise loved to be beautiful, and she did it for no one but herself. Unfortunately, that's the one person who took notice...and she's playing for keeps.

Day 15 of Voretober is here, and today’s prompt is “Mirror.”

***

Once again, I'm getting in the spirit of October by actually writing a story that I would consider pretty spooky! I really enjoyed myself while writing this. I'm curious if others will enjoy reading it, too.

Can you believe it? We are nearly halfway done with Voretober! I couldn't have gotten this far without the support I've received. I hope I can finish the challenge strong.

Would mirror!Elise even show up in a mirror?

That's a good question! I like to think that she doesn't. Adds more drama that way.

... Or in before if she preys on subsequent meals, they show up as her own 'mirror' self instead. Or, y'know. She devours/absorbs 'reflections' of everyone else, and grows more powerful over time due to that?

Potentially! In my initial musings for this story, I thought about having Elise appearing in the mirror herself following her digestion. But I decided against it

Thinking back on that comment, reading the story again. The only canary on that, was no foreshadow within the story explicitly, over a lack of reflection... So, could depend? On say, "Elise" being stuck as a Mirror's reflection... assuming, a reflection even has a shadow?

I would assume the original one shows up in a mirror, makes sense and would be highly awkward.

Nope, there is nothing to reflect. She stepped out of the mirror world in order to inhabit the material world, consuming her counterpart.

Damn, that was pretty creepy, good job!
And aside from everything being inverted, no one would be able to tell the difference in Elise!

I'm glad it seemed a little scary! Yeah, the whole thing is that Mirror Elise completely takes over Original Elise's life, and no one is the wiser.

Gosh, mirror preds are insanely hot. I really love their motivations, and that burp towards the end was just perfect.
