As you may know, there are many powerful Gems across the cosmos. Some are warriors like the mighty Jasper, who was praised for her valiant efforts during the Crystal Gem War. Others are mercenaries and bounty hunters who were shunned for being defectors, like Nephrite Facet-8K2N. And some are assassins who are so feared that Gems only dare whisper their names.
Star Sapphire Facet-9X1C is one such Gem. While it is rare for Sapphires to be anything but seers, Star Sapphire (Star for short) was created with a specific purpose in mind: to root out any traitorous Gems who were too important to publicly shatter. With her Future Vision, Star was able to foresee any rebellion and terminate targets before any action was put into motion. This made her extremely dangerous, for if Star Sapphire thought someone was guilty of a crime, she could kill them without question. All of this was done with Blue Diamond’s permission, who kept her personal assassin close like a beloved pet who bites the neighbors’ kids.
Of course, given the strict caste system of the Gem Empire, it was illegal for Star to be an assassin. That’s why, during most hours, she acted like an average Sapphire, predicting any disruptions to her Diamond’s plans as well as reporting good news. Star led a privileged life in the comfort of Blue Diamond’s Court and she relished her influence, often bullying weaker and less important Gems. She certainly flaunted her beauty, including her massive hips, which were too thicc and juicy to fit under a standard-issue Sapphire dress. Star even snacked on Rubies, gobbling up the red Gems like bon bons.
But this didn’t compare to the thousands of Gems Star Sapphire devoured as an assassin, and the whole reason her figure is so stacked is because she’s Assimilated so many Gems over the millennia. Despite her facade as a normal Sapphire, many Gems suspected why Star is so endowed and her real role was an open secret in the upper echelons of Blue Diamond’s Court. So long as word didn’t reach White Diamond though, Star was tolerated.
In fact, when Era 3 started and the Gem Empire was dismantled, things only improved for Star Sapphire. Sure, she wasn’t killing under the orders of her beloved Diamond, but Star didn’t need to hide anymore. As much fun as it was to be a snooty noble, it was a mere distraction from her real purpose and true love, killing people. Now, she could hunt and devour targets in the open, and she bounced from place to place until she found the assassin job that suited her best: working under the infamous Gem mercenary, NCP.
And from there, Star Sapphire carved out a name for herself until she was the most feared assassin in the Milky Way Galaxy. With her Future Vision, ice powers and super speed, Star can throw her ice knives faster than most aliens can blink and before they even know she’s after them. Star is deadly and merciless, only bothering with sadism when challenged by a target, which is rare. Star is the epitome of a cold, professional killer and the sort of Gem Peril wants to be… too bad they’re rivals instead!

Haha, normally Star Sapphire hides her eye. Every Gem knows Sapphires are cyclops, but her white star pupil is considered creepy, so if Star shows it, she’s either so pissed that she doesn’t care or she’s trying to intimidate someone. 99.9% of the time, she kills these people right afterwards. :P

Yeah, and the worst part is that Star Sapphire isn’t cruel about it. If she eats you, it’s just a part of the job. Maybe she shudders in delight and moans, but it’s pretty subdued.
She only bothers with sadism if someone stands out as especially fun to fight. It’s all a game, you see, and Star always wins. Always.

Thanks! When my friend Delt heard about Star Sapphire’s personality, it really gelled with their love for cold-hearted preds, so to practice for when they open commissions, Delt drew this! I wouldn’t call this an official collab, but they deserve just as much credit as me!
